Quality product
The Dough Spiral arrived in a timely manner, and was exactly as described. The attachment fit my kitchenaid pro like a glove. The white non stick coating not only prevents a sticky mess, but looks good too. The attachment is easy to attach and detach. The weight of the attachment is what you would expect from a quality build.Unfortunately I did have to return the one I ordered as my mixer is a 5 - 6 Quart, which meant that due to the depth of the mixing bowl, the attachment did not reach all the way down. Be careful and read the specs, there was nothing wrong with the product, the return was due to buyer error. The fact is depending on how the mixing bowl is made, this attachment might very well work on a 5 quart. It all depends on depth of the bowl.

Perfect Fit
Fit perfectly in my older style KitchenAid bowl lift. Doesn’t hit the sides or bottom, but still gets the job done!

Works much better than original dough hook
I have an older K5SS KitchenAid model that I regularly use (for about 35 years!). This spiral dough hook performs MUCH better than the original equipment C-shaped hook. I just made some sourdough using 1,000 g flour at ~75% hydration, and found that mixing and kneading was very efficient with much less mess of ejected flour than is typical with the C-hook. This spiral hook fits perfectly in my mixer. Perhaps a stainless steel dough hook would be better for durability and ability to clean in a dishwasher, but this model is inexpensive and explicitly lists my KitchenAid model as being compatible. Highly recommended!

Excellent quality
Love this dough hook and works amazing well. I have used the c hook but this one kneads the dough better. Great purchase

Adjust your technique
Here is some feedback for those that is looking to change from the original hook. Perhaps others may have noted it.1. for high hydration dough (80%+), it does a good job working the dough. My original hook would have lots of the dough on the hook and side wall. This one keeps the dough off the side wall and work the dough as it spins.2. it seems to strain the motor more than I thought. I usually do a 15-18 minute cycle on the 2nd setting (2nd click) but I can see that it is taking a toll on the motor. After 18 minutes, the top of the KA motor cover was registering 160 degrees. It it s lot hotter than normal. I let it cool for 50 minutes and used a lower setting for the 2nd batch.3. the dough still climbs with this book but less so with the original hook.4. Overall, I would say this is a good upgrade but make adjustments to your process...Good Luck

A game changer for my baguettes
I have an older 5qt KA bowl-lift mixer, and I have been struggling to make moderately high hydration baguettes. I tried 62-67% with my old dough hook and it would rise up on the hook and leave me with a sticky mess no matter how long I mixed. (I am using KA bread flour.)With this hook I started with 800 g flour, 500 g water (I added 400 g flour to a preferment made the night before). Within a minute or so the dough had come together and was stiff enough that it was nearly stalling my mixer. No rising up on the hook. So over the next few minutes I added small amounts of water until I had a beautiful dough which beautifully cleaned the bowl. Measured after the fact it was 68% hydration, but much firmer than any other higher hydration dough I made with the old hook.My only reservation is there is a small "holiday" in the coating of my new hook, I am hoping this doesn't serve as a starting point for the coating to fail.

replacement for "C" shaped dough hook.
this was for an old Kitchen aid mixer that came with a dough hook shaped like a large "C" that has a white coating that has been gradually chipping off for years. I ordered this as soon as it became available. it is superior for mixing and kneading doughs for bread baking. I am happy with its performance and recommend it for use in bread baking.
