Great quality and performance - a game changer!
Since receiving this yesterday, I can boast that my set of blunt and useless knives are now sharp and fit for purpose again! It took me under 15 minutes to sharpen all in the set consisting of 10 knives. The knife sharpener comes boxed with instructions. I honestly set it up without reading the instructions (though always read instructions please), but, it's that easy to use. You just place it where you want it, pull the lever back and voila the suction locks it into place. This is really useful as the gadget is very small and you dont want to have to hold it down and incur an accident. Just check first that the suction has worked. Then, I literally just run the knives through in one direction a few times, maybe 5 or 6 times. Be careful not to 'over sharpen' as they really do get sharp quickly.Excellent value for money considering I was on the verge of purchasing a new (very expensive brand) of knives. I was that fed up with using an old knife sharpener that no longer worked. Even when it did, it did not work as well as this one.I do not know how long it will last, but so far so good. Am extremely happy and I can recommend this knife sharpener.

Good as a sharpener doesn't suction down
Great knife sharpener but does not stick to the surface which is a bit of a problem.

Excellent Sharpener for Knives & Scissors
This sharpener has three separate types of sharpener. One for scissors, one two regrind a badly worn knife and one to simply re-sharpen a good knife. The unit sticks to any work surface by pressing a lever down and then pull it back up to release when finished.I tried a very old blunt knife. I put it through the regrind sharpener first - 8 swipes through it and then a further 8 swipes to re-sharpen it and give the cutting edge a smooth finish. Worked a treat.Using the re-sharpen mode I sharpened up my good quality regular knives. All of them lovely and sharp.I recommend this product to everyone.

Base sucker is very strong on a marble worktop, it does sharpen.
Small compact and easy to use.Common-sense tip: fix it to a smooth flat solid surface and it will lock down tight, never try to fasten it to a textured or uneven surface, it's the fastest way to cut yourself. The No1 slot will rough sharpen the blade and will produce metal shards and coils, NEVER brush them off with your hands, I guarantee you will regret it, use a sponge scouring pad under running water. The No2 slot is a honing slot and it hones fairly well but I wouldn't say it's great, you get a sharper blade but it's not impressively sharp, this slot will also produce shards of metal and coils but to a lesser degree than slot No1. Again, use the sponge scouring pad under running water to clear the shards away and once finished sharpening discard the sponge.Sharpening: Average, with improvement in dull blades but not overly sharp results.Impression: underwhelmed.Optional step: Use a strop to remove burring and get a cleaner edge, remember these knifes are cutting food.

Initial Doubts But Excellent
Firstly I wouldn’t use this on expensive knives, on first use it felt like it was chewing the blade away. It works well though I learnt to lightly press don’t be heavy handed. Result is excellent though nice and sharp make sure you use both sections to polish the blade after profiling
