I'm hooked on waffles! Greatest invention ever!
I wanted a Belgian waffle maker and this is the first one I've had. Very happy with my purchase. Review say it comes with a recipe book but it does not. I thought it was missing it and Amazon swapped it with another one and it still wasn't in it so I don't know why people are saying it comes with a recipe book and it does not. But that's why they have the internet. The plates stay clean and are non-stick. When I first used it I thought oh no I forgot to put oil on the plates. It didn't need it the waffles come right off. The only thing I can criticize is where the batter is poured into the rim is made of plastic so of course the batter cakes onto this and it's hard to clean off. I guess maybe I can put a little oil on this to make it easier. Very happy with the purchase and makes great waffles.

Good but not Perfect
Very nice waffle maker EXCEPT the Fill Spout at the top does not work! My first thought was my homemade batter was too thick but I just believe it's a design flaw (good idea that I was excited about). However, I will keep it because it's well made & the griddle plates are high quality non stick. I also love the beep to let you know the light has turned green & the upright design takes up less space for storing. I will just have to continue to open the maker, fill with batter, & shut to get perfect waffles.

GREAT PRODUCT
Their is a slight learning curve to this waffle maker. We used the Belgian waffle mix from Winn Dixie. First try I could not get the waffles completely round. I use milk instead of water when making these so now I add 1/2 cup more than called for which makes the batter a bit runnier. I also move from side to side when pouring into the slot at the top. Once I changed these 2 things I have prefect waffles every single time. I use the #5 setting so they are a darker brown and crispy. I also bought some butter flavored cooking spray (this will leak out the bottom) so make sure you set your maker on a round pan or something so you don't have a big mess. I spray top and bottom plate make 2 waffles then spray again. Never have had and issue of it sticking when done this way. If you choose to use chocolate chips grab the mini ones they work so much better!Kids love it, I love it so a win win for our family!

Vertical design does not work well. Does not distribute batter.
This waffle maker is very flawed. The batter (even very thin) gets stuck at the top and does not get distributed well to the rest of the iron. The batter funnel at the top that gets cooked does not cook fully so the raw-ish waffle part has to get cut off. It is interesting that they provide a measuring cup and do not tell you how much batter needs to go in. It is definitely not one cup. And if you add another cup, it gets stuck at the funnel top. A workaround is to wobble the hot waffle iron in order to distribute the batter and try to push down the batter at the top with a small spatula. I don’t think warbling/shaking a hot waffle iron is the best or safest plan. Finally, the waffle iron does cook the waffle very well (on the #3 setting of darkness). But what a pain to get it there. Of course the size is good, nonstick aspect is great, and heat level is perfect. The vertical part of it is not good. Nice idea, but bad execution.

Almost but not quite so overpriced
I’m not sure if I would have liked one of the cheaper offerings at 1/3 the price better because I haven’t tried the others lately. Our last Belgian waffle maker was a beast to clean and batter would ooze out no matter how careful we were, and onto areas difficult to clean. That was my number one need when picking a new waffle maker: quick to clean. While this maker is probably better than the rest in that it doesn’t allow batter to seep out the edges, ever, they completely failed at the design of the opening where you pour the batter, no doubt to cut corners and save a buck without passing that savings into the buyers. Basically you will be overpaying. The opening is the same frustrating headache to clean, especially since batter gets into the seams of where the plastic is connected to the plates. I have a devil of a time getting batter off of the plastic whether it’s still hot (ouch) or cooled (impossible at times and requires many toothpicks.) It is not made out of the same nonstick cast iron material that the plates are and it gets just as hot so the choice was not for “safety reasons” at all.A simple engineering change to mold the entire peace along with the plates as a whole piece would have made this a 5-star unbeatable waffle iron worth the price I payed. Instead I overpayed for cheap quality engineering. What they could have done in design would not have cost them that much more in the end, especially subtracting the expense of separately molded pieces for the pour spout in labor and materials. Making the waffle plates a single continuous molded piece including the pour spout would not have increased the current price by very much at all.If you don’t care about batter build up near the spout over time and never keeping it really clean between uses, you might like the machine, but know that you are paying more than it is worth in its present design. Imho it would be better to buy the traditional Belgian waffle designs available at cheaper prices because you still have to deal with the cleanup with this one anyway and that was the primary selling point.
