This the better one from Rit Dye
I normally use this one just by removing cap and seal from the bottle and then placing it inside the washing machine drum, on top of the clothing, making sure it sits vertical. Then I add the right amount of salt and hot water via the soap dispenser or by pouring it directly on top of the clothing inside the drum. Start the hottest longest cycle (on a Bosch is "towels") and that is it. The bottle will empty itself after a couple of swirls and will mix with the water quickly and provide homogenous result. This will avoid making a mess on your soap dispenser, which is likely made of white plastic, it will stain and will take forever to clean up.No way i will put this thing trough the soap dispenser again, I did it once and took forever to remove the dye from it.Other than this the results are good; I wish the dye did not fade as fast as it does with the following washings though, since it starts to fade after 3 or 4 washings, even in cold water.

The colour can be unexpected.
I bought black paint for my swimsuit, which had faded significantly. I intended to achieve a black color, but after applying it over the blue, it turned green, which I actually loved. If I'd painted it a second time, it might have turned a deeper black. The instructions warned that some fabrics can't be dyed, and unfortunately, the threads of my nylon swimsuit stayed blue. However, this doesn’t detract from its look. I'm considering trying other colors for future projects! Thanks

Wanted to Love It, but Results Were Spotchy
I really wanted to love my Rit Dye liquid, especially after hearing so many good things about it, but unfortunately, my experience wasn’t great. I followed the instructions carefully and took extra care to ensure I was using the right amount of dye and adding the suggested ingredients to the water. Unfortunately, the results didn’t turn out as expected, and I ended up with spotchy and unevenly dyed clothes. Here’s a more detailed breakdown:Nice Color Options, but Uneven ResultsI chose black dye, expecting a deep, uniform color for my cotton clothes. While some areas of my clothes did take the dye fine, half of my items turned out with a greenish tint instead of the solid black I was aiming for. I followed the instructions to a T – I mixed the dye with the right amount of water, added salt, and let the clothes soak for the recommended time. Even though I was careful, the result was very spotty, with some parts turning out dark black and others an uneven green.Cotton Clothes Should’ve Been EasyMy items were all 100% cotton, and I thought this would be a simple dyeing process. Cotton fabric is supposed to be easy to dye, but despite my best efforts, the color didn’t take consistently. The greenish spots were especially noticeable, and I’m not sure why they appeared. I made sure the fabric was well-mixed in the dye bath, so I’m unsure if it was a problem with the dye itself or just the process.Disappointing Final LookWhile I appreciated the richness of the dye in some areas, the overall result was not what I was hoping for. The clothes looked uneven and a bit mismatched, making them hard to wear as a uniform color. It’s frustrating when you follow all the instructions and still don’t get the results you were aiming for. I wanted to refresh my wardrobe with a solid black look, but now my items look patchy and uneven, which is not what I wanted at all.Final ThoughtsI really wanted to love this Rit Dye liquid, and I can see how it works for some people based on other reviews. However, my experience was disappointing, especially with the greenish spots that appeared despite following all the instructions. If you're looking for a smooth, uniform dye job, this might not be the best option, at least for darker colors like black. I’ll still give it 3 stars because the product itself seems good quality, but it just didn’t work well for me. If you’re set on using this, I’d recommend testing it on a small scrap of fabric first to see how the color reacts, especially for darker shades.

Does this look black to you?
I bought the black dye, followed every single instruction to an obsessive level of precision and accuracy, aiming for the “ideal”—very hot water, salt, dish soap, stirring, and using pure white cotton items for dyeing. Then I added a touch *more* of the dye and increased the dyeing time to 60 minutes as suggested on the bottle to ensure a rich, dark color. That glove is still wet (which makes it look darker than it’ll actually be when it dries), and it’s still barely a heather grey, nowhere near black. I’m sure that after a wash or two, it’s not even going to be that grey; it’ll just look like a really filthy, dingy white. Deeply disappointed in Rit, which I bought because it’s supposed to be the standard for fabric dye. What a waste of money.
