Ok reel but at least one serious drawback.
I bought this reel because it is well hyped. True you do get a lot of good engineering for the money and it could be a great priced reel. I have used this as a light boat reel a couple of times and loaded it with 0.38 mm monofilament. I’m still finding it difficult to set the cast control for light leads and had one or two overruns. The major problem that has been pointed out by another reviewer is that the mono line can find its way behind the spool and frame. If you haven’t realised it has done this you chew through the line on retrieve and lose fish as the line separates from the reel end. To free the line you either have to unscrew the knurled protruding screws an extract the spool or cut the line, neither is desirable in ba bobbing boat. It is a problem that I have never encounter on my more expensive popular multipliers in 30 years. Sadly it means that I have relegated this reel to a standby whilst it is replaced by my trusty 33 year old multiplier. I had higher hopes for this reel.

HIgh specification and versatile reel at a very reasonable price
I had to get another boat reel as my (cheap) original had come to the end of its natural life. Looking through the choices offered I was impressed by the specification on this reel. It is amazingly cheap for what you get, time will tell about its longevity. It does feel good and the retrieve is smooth. The thumb release falls quite naturally to hand and I expect that if used as a baitcaster it would perform well. As I said though I will use this mainly as a boat reel and for trolling. It is maybe overspecced for this purpose but it's nice to have a versatile reel in the bag. It does have a quality look without being over blinged and flashy. I am looking forward to using it

my husband said this is just as good as the £150 reels he has purchased in the past. He could not believe he could get such quality for such a low price. My husband is an expert fisherman and fishes here and abroad and he is very fuzzy with high expectations so if it meets his standard it will meet anyone'sArrived on time and in a reel nice box and case

Great quality and price
Fantastic reel. Beautifully made and finished. I use an Abu 7001i and this is pretty close in quality, half the price.
