This is by far the best book if you want to learn Japanese grammar and is a hidden gem ! Has every grammar structure in existence !

This book is designed as a reference for common sentence forms, connectors, conjugations, and endings in Japanese. The individual entries are short and to the point, giving a form 'synonym' and short translation for each, several example sentences, and description of usage and also what situations to use certain forms in. The short translation and description is translated into English, Chinese, and Korean. The book does a good job of clearly defining two different usage meanings of the same pattern, which is absent from the textbooks I have used previously. For example, the sentence ending のだ form has four entries, and is much clearer in the explanation of why its used instead of the vague entry in Genki. Although free internet sites will often return answers faster (such as weblio, ALC, or renshuu), the explanations of this book are more clear. However, it should be noted that these descriptions are intended for laypeople and have very little linguistic terminology or any kind of technical detail at all.The four star rating is for some niggling complaints. The chosen English font is very old style computer teletype which is not only weird but clashes with the clean look of the rest of the book. The Japanese is printed very nicely and kanji is easily discernible without being over sharpened. The other issue is choice of the beginning hiragana for each form is not consistent with most school textbooks. For example, the form ことがある。that uses short form past will be under たことがある。There are generally redirects everywhere in the book for this but it takes some getting used to. It makes a little bit of sense as the meaning can change drastically based on the verb ending form, but at the same time they are no where near each other in the book so figuring out the difference between very similar seeming forms can mean flipping back and forth in the book.

angesichts der Entfernung kam das Buch dann doch ausreichend schnell direkt bei mir ohne Umwege über Zoll oder Einfuhrumsatzsteuervorauslagen der Post bei mir wohlbehalten an.Das Buch ist offensichtlich neu, absolut keine Beanstandungen. Die lustigen Kärtchen in japanischer Sprache, um sich beim Verlag zu registrieren werde ich wohl aus Deutschland heraus nicht in Anspruch nehmen :)Danke vielmals für das tolle Buch und den schnellen problemfreien Versand

Unlike textbooks, this book allows to go straight into any grammar point you are struggling with from the first page. The explanations are easy to understand and there are good examples for each grammar point. Highly recommended.
