Even held up in the tub, sortof... Totally worth it! My 4-year-old approves!
Without having a tape measure in my head like my husband so I can just picture sizes like he does, I wasn't quite sure how big this would be when I ordered it. I thought it would be smaller than it was. So I was delightfully surprised when it arrived and it was a nice, decent size. Perfect for a 4-year-old boy who loves the Titanic. You should have seen his face when he opened it. Well, I'm sure you can imagine it. It was brilliant. For three minutes, I was the coolest mom on the planet. This is great for any Titanic lover! It would be perfect on a shelf, on a desk, or in our case, so much fun for said little boy to put together and paint and then run around with and make fly, zoom across the coffee table, slide across the floor, down the slide, dive into the sandbox, run around the living room, bounce off his sister's, slam into walls, tumble across the floor, slam into his cars, be towed by his tow trucks, bull-dozed, ran over by his Monster Trucks, take a ride in his dump truck, and then he asked to take it in the bathtub. I could just envision it falling apart and swelling with water, and the tears that would follow, but it was $3. What the heck. I could buy a dozen for the tub if it made him happy. So in it went. Yes, it fell apart. BUT it didn't swell with water. AWESOME! He just had more fun gluing it back together again. He said that it falling apart was it sinking. "Cuz, mom, the Titanic sank, remember?"I'd suggest a water-sealant for water use. I'm going to try that next. Summer is coming, we'll open the pool... Of course now he has his eye on the motorized one...All-in-all, we couldn't be happier with this purchase. The price is phenomenal! So, I highly recommend it for the Titanic lover in your life- and for those who like to put things together and paint them. Even if they aren't a Titanic fanatic yet, you could get it as a gift and as they put it together and paint it, you could teach them about the Titanic. An idea for homeschooling. If you're on the fence, buy it, you won't be sorry.

It’s a fun project for kids and adults
Similar to pinewood derby for Cub Scouts this fairly easy to assemble model provided several days of enjoyment for my son and I. The little wood pieces do require some sanding gluing and you have to purchase acrylic paint and brushes. Some of the painting was a little tricky such as the portal lights all along the bow but my son did those just fine. Take note of the size as it’s not a huge model but that’s OK too.For the money this was a good value as well.

This is a kit that does not come with paint or glue
The instructions left much to be desired. I highly recommend using tape for the smoke stacks and the large piece to get the clean painting line. The Masts were the same size but instructions called one short and one long. Also the stacks lookked pretty crappy once glued due to being cut at an angle. They should really show you unfinished (unpainted) pieces and not just the perfectly put together end product. I recommend ultra fine tip sharpie to add the windows. It worked great for the my co-workers gift. Sharpies wrote over my white paint well and gold paint pen wrote over the black paint well. Worked fine for the price. Would be difficult for kids.

Small, but good for a younger Titanic fan.
This is a bare bones, DIY model. It's small and not very detailed, but it is wooden instead of cheap plastic, so it is a great project for crafty kids and parents to do together, without the mess of model glue. It comes unpainted and without the nails or glue to put it together, but those are easy fixes. I bought this as a small add-in to go with a Titanic book for my son for Christmas, and he absolutely loves it. This wouldn't be something I would gift on its own, given its small size, but it definitely makes for an excellent stocking stuffer or additional gift.

The pieces are cut wrong and it looks like they substituted a bow piece for one of the ...
*** CONSUMER WARNING ****The real cost of this is $25.00 plus 8 hours assembly time.Make sure you read all the negative reviews because they are dead on. The pieces are cut wrong and it looks like they substituted a bow piece for one of the stern rails in ours. If you are considering buying a wood model of the Titanic it's probably safe to assume that your kid is going through a Titanic phase and can't get enough of it. Unfortunately if you're not careful this model can turn them right off. There is no excuse for the types of poor quality that this model comes with. I assumed that it would be made out of softwoods and was not going to be as durable (or costly) as something made out of better quality materials. But I did not expect it to be cut wrong. It takes just as long and costs a manufacturer just as much to cut a piece of wood to the correct size as to the wrong size.My son's fascination with the Titanic has lead to him to want to read and experiment. I'd hate to see something as stupid as this frustrate him and turn him off. So I guess I'll just have to run out to Hobby Lobby and pick up some sandpaper, tools, etc and plan to spend a Saturday cutting and sanding all of the pieces with my son so that we can put it together properly and make this a positive experience.Better to give the $2.50 to the Salvation Army than to this company.

Perfect for a kid who loves the titanic
My 7-year-old loves the titanic...a lot. Like, he's obsessed with it. I gave him this kit and he very happily glued it together and then painted it. He carries it all over the place with him. I mean, he really loves it.How is the quality? Well, it's what you expect for this price. It's basically a few pieces of wood that roughly approximate the general idea of the titanic. Nothing special, but for this price you don't expect something special. I bought a few extras to give to him when he loses his current one.The world needs more cheap DIY toys like this. Or, at least, my son does.

perfect
I read the reviews and did not expect much for the money. But I was POSITIVELY surprised! I ordered 15 Titanic kits. Each had all pieces and all pieces fit perfectly and the size and quality and idea was perfect for a kids birthday party! The pieces were well selected and easy to assemble for a great looking result. And the price was unbeatable. I can totally recommend these!
