This sketchpad has great paper and I use it with my pencils. The spiral bound top makes it so nice to turn to the next sheet with ease. Your drawings will be very organized and all in one place with this sketchpad. The pages are a nice size for making several doodles or one large drawing. I highly recommend this Bachmore sketchpad. I will be ordering another one!

I was never that well-versed in paper weight but this was certainly a rude awakening. Combined with its grayish off-white surface, it reminds me a bit of gas-station toiler paper. The ONLY medium this paper can handle is pencil, and even then, light to moderate sketching only, at least with my relatively heavy and active hand (I tried working on a complex pencil composition in this -- eraser began to eat the paper pretty quickly). That being said, there is a LOT of paper here in comparison to the average expensive, high-end sketchbook, which is what I was looking for as I work primarily in HB pencil to do simple studies. I take this thing with me to figure drawing every week and work in colored pencil and graphite, and it's definitely holding up as best as it can. No complaints about the spiral, and I have torn out a fair few sheets. If all you're looking to do is sketch and do studies in pencil/colored pencil, and you just want a place to dump them all without constantly buying a new sketchbook or having to deal with the obnoxious rigidness of a book-type sketchbook, this is worth your money. Do NOT buy this if you need a sketchbook for an art class where you'll be expected to do WORK, you art teacher will HATE you.
