100% genuine company and superb support staff
JLL R200 Rowing machineI had no experience of indoor rowing before buying this machine during our recent lockdown, but did my research on independent websites as to the best home machine, giving value for money. Obviously the money in your pocket dictates what you can buy. I didn’t want to pay for a water resistance machine or the air fan style. This magnetic rower is quiet (quiet is always a subjective word though), but remember it is an exercise machine and all machines produce some noise – water and air machines far more than this by a long, long way! It came swiftly and for the money is a really sturdy piece of kit. Included were parts diagrams and instruction assembly sheets, plus a well labelled parts card and tools. The parts are well protected and easy to identify. I preferred to access the YouTube assembly video, which is taken step by step and so easy to follow.. The machine folds up to something akin to a large floor polishing machine, but is easy to fold and extend for use. The monitor shows a series of rowing metrics and will cycle through these if you prefer. It will show total overall strokes from new, total for the workout session, strokes per minute, calories used, time elapsed and total distance. It is a basic monitor and data doesn’t upload to anywhere, but I believe if you use something like the Strava app it can be entered manually. The metrics are so useful for improving performance and varying stroke workout or HIIT sessions. The resistance dial varies 0 – 10 and allows an easy and graduated build up over time. After a month or so I experienced hiccups with the monitor, the strokes per minute swung wildly and the overall distance wasn’t accurate – showing 2.5 km instead of the 5km I would normally cover at the same resistance and in the same time. JLL support services have been ace – someone always responded via my Amazon messages and well within the time frame their automated response service suggested (there is a phone number too). They were polite and efficient in their responses and suggested a few easy things to try. Eventually I had to say there was no change. To be fair I would have happily accepted a new monitor to try, as this is easy to disconnect to replace batteries. However, JLL recognised I had the machine a very short time and it was they who dispatched a full new machine promptly. This arrived quickly and I was simply asked to do the best I could repacking my first machine in the same box that the new one came in. I was asked to ring them to arrange collection. I did this and the collection was arranged to suit me and this was confirmed in the same call.Obviously I have to give the new machine time to ensure this monitor works consistently well, but as for JLL Fitness – I would recommend the company, the R200 rowing machine and, most definitely and emphatically, their customer service ...100%. I would have total confidence contacting them again or purchasing a different piece of equipment from them. Well done JLL, really well deserved positive review.

Good for Beginners - a sturdy unit
We are both beginners having never done this form of exercise before and wanted something that would be suitable for all body areas. We have used it for two weeks. The unit is heavy and well built, feels strong, stable and safe in use. It was easy to put together by following the instructions and using the supplied tools. I did not watch the You Tube video to help with construction, but there is one. It takes up quite a lot of floor space and although it folds up, this is not 'easy' or quick and having it in a spare room is much better than in a room in full-time use. The plastic rear cover has the four self-tapping screws pre-fitted, but I discovered one already had a stripped thread; this is a minor issue and solved with a larger diameter screw. Also note that the two large bolts supplied with lock-nuts have slightly different thread lengths and important to get them the right way around; they are different for a reason but the instructions do not highlight this, though. The seat is firm but comfy, not too small, with six wheels to run up the bar; and the footplates are large, with large velcro straps. The footplates are supported by a large bolt, one for each side, but the right-hand footplate bolt tends to come undone as the action of the footplate being pivoted 'in use' starts to undo it, so either use 'lock-tite' on the thread or check it regularly (as you should with all equipment like this!) The timer is basic in operation, but is good for what it does and is clear and readable, although it is mounted a bit low and is hidden by the 'rowing-strap' when in use. The rowing-pull-handle is comfortable and with a good grip. The range of resistance we feel for us is good, and we are only on number 2! A 3km/15min row at resistance #2 is a nice workout to start for us beginners! It is reasonably quiet in operation with not much transmitted noise through the floor, although we have it on carpeted floor and with soft pads under the units' feet. For improvements for the manufacturer/designer: I would move the timer display to above where the rowing-strap exits; change the instructions to highlight the differences in the two same-sized bolts with different threads and where they fit; and use a captive washer on the knurled nut/knob (the one that is released and removed before the unit is folded up); a quicker way of folding it with an instant-release mechanism would be even better.

Value for money
Does what it says on the tin! For a new rower it is very good for the moneys paid. Went together very well and it was extremely well packaged. Delivered with in 24 hours! My husband uses the rower on a high tension and it gives him a good work out, I have a bad back but find on a lower tension I can manage it well as the sitting position keeps my back straight. We read the reviews for this rower which is why we went for this model and would recommend this model too. As a side note, my husband is 5’10’ and I am 5’3’ any one taller would struggle. We have had two rowers before both second hand so thought it was about time we bought new.

Great for lockdown home exercise + fantastic customer support
I ordered this rowing machine back in January, it arrived within a couple of days and was super easy to assemble. The instructions include a link to a youtube video showing the step-by-step assembly, so don't waste money on paying for expert assembly. Ikea wishes its furniture was this easy to put together.During assembly, I did struggle with the black guard cover at the foot of the sliding rail as it would not attach properly and I couldn't get two of the screws in. I contacted the customer service and explained the issue and they immediately sent a replacement. They were also super friendly and eager to help and the replacement arrived very quickly and was easily attached.I've been using this rowing machine on setting 5 to row about 3km every other day and it works perfectly - it's not very loud, the display works nicely and the seat is reasonably comfortable compared to some rowing machines I've used in gyms back when gyms were places we could go to.All in all, I'm really glad I finally decided to get my own rowing machine and that I went with this one - it's certainly given me a way to get rid of excess energy this winter!
