Bought 1, ordered another, had to return both
As an electrical engineer I offer the following. Although the product initially worked as presented, I had to rate everything as 1 star because the product failed. I did not experience the installation or display problems others have described until failure. My uninstall proceeded without incident as well. However, the design and quality control seem to be substandard. And for the record, Amazon's return process has become so painless it was really no problem to return both units. Thank you, Amazon. Both units failed, one by one, within days. I had the same experience as others who commented that the product runs very hot. For electronics, that's very bad. I suspect one of my units failed due to heat stress. The other unit had parts rattling around inside, which suggests poor quality control in the design and assembly. If you get it, and it works for you, terrific. But Amazon asked me to answer an unanswered question (which I could not find), so instead I elected to provide my review, which I seldom do, but this product offering calls for a 'buyer beware'.In the case of this product, while I feel sympathy for the designers and marketers because it is clear they tried hard to do their best to provide a great product at a great price, unfortunately the product just misses the design and quality control that is reasonable to expect.I don't know if it's acceptable or not to make a recommendation here, but I really needed a product to perform this conversion, so I turned to StarTech, also available on Amazon. It's a different caliber of company and product, more expensive, but I have been using it for about a month. It's well designed, runs relatively cool and without problems, and they have great customer support via chat - very knowledgeable people with immediate results. I had a special need for this conversion and they helped me promptly understand the different techniques for USB-HDMI conversion so I could select the proper design. They also readily recommended returning one of their products even though it had not failed because THEY discovered it was not the right one for my application. Pretty cool!If you change manufacturers for this conversion, remember you have to uninstall the drivers of this product first, then install the drivers for the product you choose to go with. In the case of StarTech, their products works very reliably. I have no affiliation with either of these manufacturers, I'm just writing what my experience has been.

It Serves It's Intended Purpose
I wanted to add a 3rd monitor to my Dell AIO, but it only had 1 HDMI out. Heard this would work to drive another monitor from a USB port. At first it wasn't plug and play, and it ended up being easier to search on-line for a driver than to load the mini-CD that came with it. Once the driver was loaded, it works like a charm, and now I have a 3rd monitor for more screen real estate.

works as advertised
fairly simple and straightforward. it comes with a disc to install the driver but the little manual also directs to a website URL where it can be installed from. didn't get any virus threat popups and the external monitor displays just fine. if anyone's virus protection software does alert to anything, it's not because the driver is trying to install trojans or malware. the whole point of this product is to adapt a signal from a usb port to an hdmi port, so there has to be some re-programming involved. i think others who are getting freaked out by this just don't quite understand how this kind of technology works.

works good but driver is a hassle
I installed on Windows 10 pro. I do not have access to ca optical drive for their driver disk so I do not even know what is on it. I did see a web address in the instructions that did not seem to work to get the driver online. Finally I gave that up and just started Google searching . Many of the sites that indicated that they had the driver, induced malware warnings on my protective software . This is bad because its a work computer (I work from home). Anyway I finally looked through enough Microsoft discussions to find a site I could trust and was able to get it installed succesfully. Nice little adapter at a great price. Expected install time for a usb device even needing driver < 5 minutes. Actual, after come and go back to it over the course of a day > 1.5 hour.

Very surprisingly works!
I have a slightly lower-end business laptop that had a single HDMI port.Even with using the laptop screen and an attached monitor I desired more display room for my office work.I was a little skeptical reading about this little USB device thinking that it surely wouldn't work on my laptop with a low-end video card in it already. But it worked!I installed the drivers (downloaded from the website instead of using the included cd), plugged the device into a spare USB port, plugged another monitor into it via HDMI cable, and the display just worked. In Windows 11 I set it to extend to my display (instead of mirroring) so that I can have multiple different apps open on each screen. As a note, I did try a couple different HDMI cables. One, which may have been of poorer quality, did not display well, the colors were off and it was very grainy. But once I switched to a newer HDMI cable then it was crystal clear.
