works great
This is my favorite gesso to use. It is smooth and spreadable to make a really nice finish on my canvases and also can be use to make pretty 3 D art.

surprisingly good gesso
Usually I like Golden's Gesso, but I like this gesso a little more because it's a tad more absorbent and doesn't make your oil paint slip around as much. But it's slick enough to let you work the paint with a brush. On the opposite end would be something like Liquitex gesso, which is very absorbent and hard on the brushes.

Very nice
Thick and works great to cover area for oil painting. Kind of hard to get the lid off but I managed ... I guess it's good to have a sturdy lid to be able to reseal it. Nice amount.

Be careful opening this thing1
When I tried to open this the thing stuck & I had to get pliers to grab hold so I could pull it open. So much force was needed that the container slipped & splashed gesso on my new pants.However this type of container seems more practical to me than a bottle, though will have to make sure it doesn't dry out. I've only used the gesso once, it spreads evenly, seems a bit thin to me.

After trying several brands
I really am impressed with this gesso. I love the large size as inside it on several kinds of projects. Great pigmentation and coverage, dries quickly and the lid fits well. Will buy again for sure.

Using this for acrylic painting
Using this as a third primer coat for hardboard painting. Works fine. Because the board is dark, I use first two coats with Kilz, then the third coat is Mont Marte. Presents a nice surface for painting.
