Upgrade Time Again!!!
When used in the right application, these satellite speakers are the best small speakers that I have heard. The drawback (if one can call it that) is you need to use a bass module or subwoofer to augment the lower frequencies under 150-120 Hz but the midrange is where these speakers shine.A word regarding the Min 22 versus the previous models (Min 20 & Min 21). This is a 3rd generation Minx Model that uses a 4th generation 2 1/4" BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) used as the top driver and a long throw woofer as used in the previous Min 21 for the bottom driver. Cambridge Audio claims (as in the previous generation Min 21) this top BMR had been updated. If, like me, you have gone from using the Min 20 to the Min 21 and remember the difference you heard, you're in for a real treat when you upgrade to the Min 22. First off, if you can believe it, you are going to hear more coverage (Dispersion). I know you're wondering. How can I hear more dispersion when the Min 20 & 21 had pretty good coverage already? Well, this new speaker's dispersion is so much improved, it covers a wider area more evenly. A good test when comparing the Min 22 to the previous models is this. If you listen to a lot of stereo music like me, you will notice an increase in surroundedness when you listen to many of your favorite music tracks. The Min 20 & 21 were pretty good at this already but it's like you are listening with your rear surround speakers on when they are emitting no sound at all. The other things you will notice is the sound is quite a bit smoother in the upper most frequencies that previously had an edge, vocals and midrange, in general, are more pronounced, a deeper / wider soundstage and the separation between instruments let you hear into the music more, being able to pick individual sounds out better.I purchased these speakers the first week of July and have been playing them constantly with music, movies and tv. In the past week alone, I've heard an even greater improvement in smoothness and separation. I will say that I was very hesitant upgrading from my previous Minx Min models because I wasn't so sure there would be this much improvement. I'm happy to say, I'm so glad I did! Congratulations to the design team at Cambridge Audio for their perseverance on improving an already great little loudspeaker. :)

Outstanding speaker
I keep a compact 4 channel surround sound setup in my den using an old Circle Surround decoder. They are far superior to the 90's era Bose redline cubes that they replaced. I was able to use my existing Bose ceiling mount brackets by drilling out the mounting hole in the Bose brackets to accomodate a larger fastener. They need some break in time. The spatiality is far superior to the Boses. It fills a 12X15 room.I still use an old late 80's era amplified Bose 2683 sub (8" bandpass) with the setup .. sadly, I can't say much good for the Cambridge Minx X301 sub, I was not impressed at all and returned the sub.

I have other Cambridge products, not as impressed as I thought I would be.
The area that these would have been used in is 6'x10' room with a 7' high ceiling with these mounted high and unobstructed---- so they should be able to give me the sound that I wanted out of the space. I consider myself an audiophile that has real world expectations--- and I felt that I was left short on this one. As the headline says I have other Cambridge products and for what they are, they sound great. I also remember my first encounter with their product--- someone I knew showed up at an event and they had their Cambridge suitcase full of speakers setup and that thing rocked--- was one of the reasons I have bought their products over the years.I set up a test bench between a couple of different speakers that I own-- some purchased and some acquired one way or another, including my other Cambridge products. I just felt like these were lacking, just not what I expected based on reviews and the engineering that went into them. There is simply enough "missing" from how they sound that adding a subwoofer will help, but will still not address what is missing.Size wise, they are small and that is a bonus--- they will literally fit anywhere. Price wise-- not so small. The space that I was to install them is constrained and they would have been the best if they had the sound they promised. Ultimately I did return them as I did buy something else. With the other speakers that I chose the price was much more palatable and sound was much more involved had the detail I was looking for. Only consolation was that they are larger, but the positives outweigh everything else.

Excellent replacements for Bose cube speakers!
Needed to replace an old Bose Lifestyle system and the cube speakers were in special-sized enclosures. Well, guess what? Cambridge Audio created a much better sounding speaker with these and they are exactly the same size! They sound fantastic; I got 5 of these and the matching 500W subwoofer. MUCH better sound than Bose.
