Im always looking for larger, more natural looking real wood feeders for the birds. Very nice woodpecker/clinging bird friendly suet feeder. Love the desighn & the bark instantly atracked me to it & drew in the birds. Heavy duty & I like the double sided suet feature it holds one cake on each side. This makes the top wider along with a overhang which is great, holds the cakes & keeps off the rain nicely. Thick wood pieces. Easy to load. The weight of it is more stable for the larger birds & in the wind. I'd like it if they made them in different types of bark just for variety. I would buy them all. I ordered 2 I liked them so much, & very glad I did. Quality craftsmanship. A+++

Looks good but the birds don't like it. There's too much of an overhang where the double cake holders stick out over the tail prop and the average size woodpecker can't or won't use it. They like the double feeder with the cakes stacked on top of each other and no overhang of the tail prop much better. Even the pileated woodpeckers don't want to use the tail prop.

This is a fantastic feeder for all clinging birds! I live in a heavily forested area in Portland OR so there's always a lot of woodpecker action, but once I upgraded from the typical square mesh feeder to this one the bird traffic has become insane. The huge pileated woodpeckers and northern flickers visit multiple times a day now because they can land and eat with ease resting their tails on the prop below, not all twisted and uncomfortable like they were before. It is very solidly constructed and I really like the tail prop which is basically a slab of evergreen tree, so even non-clinging type birds can land and hold on to it very easily. The woodpeckers have stripped off some of the wood on the sides so I don't know if it will hold up for years and years but for the price it's totally worth it. Of course with that tree-like composition it's also easier for our little squirrel acrobats to leap on but they can't shake and swing the suet out like they did with my old feeder, now they must pull chunks out with their paw so I would say they can't eat as quickly. The double sided part is great so I don't have to refill the suet nearly as often. Even the ground feeding type of birds will hang out below to catch little falling bits the feeding birds drop. I just love it and wish I had purchased it earlier!

The woodpeckers, large and small, are loving this duet feeder. The finish is a little rough, watch for splinters, but all in all they really like the bark. Very easy for them to land and feed.11-26-16 Update: We have several kinds of woodpeckers and several other suet feeding birds using this feeder with great success! They love the bark tail prop!!

The birds love this - especially with the tree bark "tail prop", which allows woodpecker-type birds to land and keep themselves on the feeder (like they do on a tree when pecking).This feeder is *very* easy to load, as well (I use vegan suet from BirdsDontEatCows.com :~) ).It's also very well constructed, so much so that it has survived 'death by raccoon' twice this year already, when I forgot to bring it in for the night!

Perfect suet feeder for the larger woodpeckers. I have pileated woodpeckers that visit and this is big enough and heavy enough for them to land and feed easily. I had a regular one before and they would have to curl around the feeder and the whole thing would swing when they landed. This is much more to their liking! It is also easy to fill, which I like. The other woodpeckers enjoy it too! I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I really like this suet feeder. It's well made and looks nice. I've had mine up for a month or so, and the chicadees love it. I have not seen any larger birds use it, so I have not see any that need the tail prop, but the tail prop bark looks great. I didn't know when I bought it that this is a double-sided feeder, you can put a brick of suet on each side.

All the birds LOVE this feeder. The woodpecker uses the tail prop on his multiple daily visits. It's easy to put in the suet on both sides. I'm very pleased. If this feeder was still available, I'd buy another one and recommend it to my other bird loving friends.
