When Billy Ocean released his One World Album in 2020, he had not released a new studio album in decades. It was SO LONG AGO, I have lost count on the date of his previous studio album release.Just seeing the man on ITV's, This Morning chat show promoting his new studio album, was enough confirmation that THE MAN was back in his rightful place in British Popular Music, doing what he naturally does best, moving the world into love and appreciation of his musical gifts as an incredible musician.You don't even have to address how incredible this new studio album is, because you are listening to a NATURAL MUSIC LEGEND HERE.He is naturally one of the GREATEST EVER BLACK- BRITISH MALE SOUL VOCALISTS THAT THE UNITED KINGDOM HAS EVER PRODUCED.The One World Album is an incredible album to listened to from beginning to end.Every song on this album is nothing short of JUST INCREDIBLE.After all these decades of making Popular Music his Youthful Music talents are all in display on this album.The United Kingdom...I don't believe has truly acknowledged Billy Ocean's contribution to British Popular Music.Whenever there is an acknowledgement of his craft as a Black- British Musician/Singer- Songwriter, it is mainly to his 1980s, hits, Carribbean Queen, When the Going Gets Tough, Suddenly etc.... NOT his 1970s output like Love Only Hurts etc...What has occurred to me by listening to this album ( and I say this as someone who unfortunately,has not listened to a lot of Billy Ocean's previous albums) is THAT... you realise that the songs have a REAL approach to classic Black- American Soul, Songwriting and Studio craft production.For me, this One World Album confirms, one of the first times that a BLack- BRITISH MALE Vocalist has been able to bring out a studio album, that is to the highest musical arts of the classic modern soul, music genre.On this particular album... Billy Ocean truly sounds like the British Equivalent of Luther Vandross, and I say that in the very highest praise, of the way Luther Vandross worked on his studio albums.Even more importantly...The One World Album, confirms Billy Ocean's important contribution NOT just to British Popular Music, but also even ( More Importantly)...Black- British Popular Music.

The tracks grow on you after a few plays, up there with all his old stuff. Good buy

I didnt expect how good this CD would be : great melodies and so many variety of genres : pop, reggae, dance , soul , world, blues, ballad, bossa.Most of the songs are about 5 minutes longs not as today s commercial hits no longer than 2min30 due to commercial charts streaming reasons.I recommand specially this CD to all the 80s lovers.

In a year of lock-down and bad news, this album is beautifully optimistic, sunny, up-beat, gentle and escapist. And, how can you not feel better after listening to Billy Ocean's music and lyrics, whatever the mood and season.

I bought this album without knowing any of the songs on the album.No regrets. Its a great album. My favorite tracks are "When I saw you", "Can't stand the pain" and the title track.
