Anatomy for Artists: A visual guide to the human form

A thoughtfully produced book that is clearly created with the needs of Artists in mind. The use of graphic overlays with photographs is a really useful way to understand both the underlaying anatomical structure amd the way these structures then appear to the eye.The book is larger than I expected and this adds to it's value as the images are more clear and easily understood. As a fan of Berne Hogarths anatomy books I was at first a bit skeptical as to the approach taken in this book but I was pleasantly surprised how useful it has been in improving my understanding of human anatomy.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their art skills in relation to drawing or sculpting the human form.

I hesitated for a few days before purchasing, purely because of the price.I took the plunge and I'm really glad that I did, it's worth every penny.This is a big book, large, hardbacked, and absolutely crammed with detailed colour photos.My favourites are in the second half, which is full of poses shown in several ways, including overlays showing the muscles. This is invaluable for life drawing.I'm going to be using this for years, literally, it's a brilliant book.If you're interested in how the body fits together and how it moves, I recommend buying this book. At the moment, I am studying Fine Art and want to perfect my figure drawings. What I like so much about this book is there is both male and female models - not the usual fare where the female figure is the primary focus.The book has been well designed and laid out. It shows the body of an elderly man and a large lady, to aid understanding how the body changes with age and excess weight. Both the images and descriptions are clear.It is certainly a book I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn to study and draw the figure.I gave the book five stars because it is excellent - however, if I could give the delivery a rating it would be less than zero.I did not spend over £30 on a book to have it arrive in such a shoddy condition. I submitted a return within 5 mins of opening the packaging and have ordered one from my University Art Centre book shop instead. In future I will buy my books from elsewhere. I am tired of book orders from Amazon arriving scuffed and damaged.

This is a visual guide to human anatomy. The book was a lot larger than I thought - it's not really a book you can place next to your sketchbook while you practice, but it's very useful.

Excellent. Use it a a reference book for drawing. Clears up a lot of the muscle definition and separation when drawing the human body.

El libro es de gran formato y se centra en ejemplos con modelos reales y dibujos explicativos que ayudan a comprender las distintas musculaturas a la hora de dibujar. A mí me ha resultado muy útil.

O grosso do livro é um conjunto de referências fotográficas com imagens de apoio explicitando anatomia muscular e volumetria dos corpos. Porém essas referências possuem um escopo reduzido: no geral, temos dois modelos (feminino e masculino) com idades semelhantes (25~30 anos).A parte de anatomia é curta, um tanto superficial e mesmo incompleta. Origem e inserção de pouquíssimos músculos é mostrada visualmente, por exemplo. A mudança de forma dos músculos ao performarem sua função também é inexistente.Não devolvo apenas pela falta de comodidade.
