The Tube Mapper Project: Capturing Moments on the London Underground

A great gift for any photographer or tube enthusiast, packed full with beautiful photographs
I follow TubeMapper on Twitter so when I heard there was going to be a book I thought I would treat myself and support the author Luke Agbaimoni, who is an excellent photographer. The book has a nice matt cover so you won't get fingerprints all over it, there is no dust jacket (are they a thing still?) and has 220 pages. The book is divided up into seven sections (see image) plus the usual intro and acknowledgements. The book is what it is, pages of rich full colour and black & white photographs with most filling almost the entire page or two-page spread. The station name and the odd sentence about the shot also feature. Some pages have a little bit more text and there are a number of quotes from people in the book. Who is this for? I think this would make an excellent book for any train/tube enthusiast, anyone interested in photography will also enjoy this book with the many varied photos. I live in London and for me, I liked going through the book and seeing if I recognised any of the shots on the tube, The tube is a vast network, I travel on it every day to work across multiple lines, it has many little secret shortcuts frequent travellers use and this book captures some of those unique parts of the tube.

Fabulous photo essay of London's Underground.
In the days of my weekly commute to London, I would often take a pocket camera and snap photos of the City both above and below ground. The Tube Mapper Project naturally caught my eye on Facebook, and I was delighted to find this wonderful book with a vast collection of fine photos. The photos are brilliant throughout and really capture the colours, shadows, reflections, and symmetry of the Underground. In particular, the book offers a (below) street photography impression of people going about their commutes, unbeknown to them now framed within artistic images. I enjoyed reading about how the project has evolved, and I also really liked the snippets of poetry that compliment the photos perfectly.

A fantastic book
I saw the photographer on a segment in Yesterday's "Secrets of the underground" and it doesn't disappoint. I often flick through it, and like all good art you see new things or different perspectives. The only disappointment is it isn't bigger. The photos are often double paged but the centre gets lost in the spine.

Fantastic collection
A fantastic collection of totally unique views capturing moments on the London Underground. We have spent hours enjoying the images, one by one, with the perfectly brief and illuminating commentary. The concept of underground symmetry is brought to life by carefully composed shots. This book is a riot of colour, structure and reflection, taking everyday walls, lights and floors from the mundane to the magical. We thoroughly recommend this book, and were thrilled to see there is a second in the series

Interesting book
This photo book arose out of a project by the photographer to document the London Underground. It’s a very interesting book with high quality images and text and many of the photos are from unusual angles or captured in reflections.Highly recommended

Great book for inspiration on tube station photography
This book contains some great photos of the London Underground which started as a hobby for the author. The large collection of photos have been sub divided into sections and I found it a great source of ideas and inspiration for future visits to London and taking some photos on the London Underground

Wonderful Photos
This is a beautiful coffee table book that I bought as a Christmas present for my son, who's mad about the London Underground. He loves it.

Great photos, poor reproduction
I like the idea of the project, although not completely original, and there are some really fantastic photographs. But why are these reproduced largely over two pages with the central message being lost in the page fold? What was the editor thinking? One could have just printed the photos in a book with landscape format without significant loss of size. So, all credit to Luke Agbaimoni for some really nice images, unfortunately a lot of their impact gets lost due to strange reproduction. Pity.

A Great Photo Book
For some odd reason I am fascinated with the London Underground. The photos in this book put a different perspective on the many stops, and moves the topic more towards the artful rather than the documentation of the various locations. Good to look at and entertaining, the photographer shows a high level of creativity in the scenes captured and the techniques employed.

An underground vision
Although I'm only an occasional visitor to London I do enjoy seeing photographs and videos of the London Underground.Luke has captured some fantastic images of the tube and everyday life. He includes hints and tips for other budding photographers as to how he captured the photographs.

Symmetry on the Tube
An absolutely beautiful book. As a fan of both the London Underground and symmetry, this book is absolutely glorious. It's giving me so many back in London vibes and, while I can't get there, this is going to be the next best thing. :)

Beautiful and Unique Photography of the London Underground/Overground.
Full disclosure, I'm an expat Londoner (based in San Diego) and a huge fan of The Tube, having declared that, the photography and packaging of this book is absolutely beautiful. I preordered this having seen Luke's work on Twitter and devoured it in two commutes and will now be savoring it in subsequent viewings. If you're a public transport wonk, a photography wonk and/or an Anglophile, this beautiful book is for you. It's joined the "British Stuff" that is part of my homesickness medicine. Highly recommended.
