Inside Affair: Prime Time Series, Book 1

CLIFF HANGER ENDING = lazy writing
I absolutely despise cliff hangers. I find it a very manipulative way to get me to buy another book. It's also very poor storytelling!A book should have a story arc with at least one of the major conflict resolved/answered. Only a weak storyteller ends a story with something like "He knew the killer was behind the closed door. After a moment, he opened the door and was shocked to see that that was the person committing the killings... The End. Buy the next book! "There was no resolution to anything! The stalker is never revealed. A major character is wounded and it's implied they are dying or just died. The relationship is barely in the beginning stages of showing interest with a bit of groping. I mean, c'mon--give me something! This book gave me absolutely nothing. If the author can't be bothered to write an ending then I can't be bothered to purchase another book by this author.I do not recommend this book!

Cliffhanger!
The novel is pretty well written: excellent, believable characters; only a few inconsistencies that a better editor would have caught. But it's worse than a cliffhanger. It's an incomplete story. As if it weren't bad enough that we don't know whether one of the main characters is alive or dead at the end, the main arc of the story is about a stalker, and at the end we don't know who the stalker was or what his motives were. I wouldn't have bought the novel if I'd known this. It's a cheap gimmick to get us to buy the next book.

Anchorman vs. Detective: Round One goes to Attraction
Spoilers in this Review!!Sweet new romance by Ella Frank with two MCs (Sean & Xander) that you have already met, if you’ve read Confessions Henri & Confessions Bailey. In my opinion it is not necessary to read either book beforehand but I would recommend it.There is a GFY trope, as Sean is said to be “straight” (though I honestly feel like he’s pan or demi and just never thought about his sexuality much, especially because he accepts his attraction to Xander pretty easily) a fake-boyfriend trope, a live-in bodyguard trope. This is all wrapped up in a slow-burn enemies to lovers romance along a suspense plot.Xander (uber rich news anchor) has a creepy stalker threatening him. He turns to Homicide detective Sean (Bailey’s oldest brother) who he has known all his life through ex-lover/ best friend Bailey.Sean then decides to become Xander’s Fake Boyfriend to not spook the stalker and draw him out. The first half of the book is actually quite antagonistic. Both men are stubborn and don’t know each other as well as they think they do, so there is a lot of friction. I have to admit there was a point in the story where it became a bit too combative and a few times Xander rubbed me the wrong way, as he had a problem with Sean’s appearance and gave him a makeover so he could be seen with him. I tried to think of it as a Queer Eye Makeover and Sean did end up embracing the new him.Once you get through all the antagonism the book slowly starts to build the romance and this is really slow burn (There are some kisses and a handjob but that’s it). I love that aspect because it builds anticipation for the next installment.Character-wise I loved Sean: he’s fun, smart, stubborn, strong, sweet, open- minded, workaholic, brave, lonely and yeah sometimes grumpy but an all around good guy.Xander took some warming up to but I grew to love him too: he’s sweet and sensitive on the inside, stubborn, spoiled, indulgent, brilliant, playboy, workaholic, can be slightly dickish sometimes, doesn’t handle being scared well, lonely, needs to be loved really badly in my opinion. The book does end in cliffhanger that I personally didn’t mind because it is a great cliffhanger. This is a romance novel so it kind of figures that the MCs will be fine...and the cliffhanger provides a great beginning for the next book. The romance has only just begun and both still have to figure a lot out ( Sean’s sexuality for example) and how to manage having a relationship without the live-in bodyguard situation ( if the stalker storyline is finished, which I have my doubts about). Also Bailey’s reaction to his brother and best friend/ex getting together. So a lot to look forward to in the next book. Can’t wait.Side Note: One of the few MM books by this author (along with Henri & Bailey) that I have really enjoyed since the Temptation Series: therefore 5 Stars

Loved Xander and Sean's beginning!!
This is only the 3rd book I’ve read by Ella Frank and I have to say I’m a new fan!Xander is a prime-time news anchor and Sean is a detective with the Chicago Police Department. The two have known each other their whole lives, but they couldn’t be any more different. When Xander starts receiving threats he ends up hiring Sean to be his bodyguard. Little did either know, Sean was about to become more than that.I loved the banter between Xander and Sean. They constantly bicker and give each other the what for and I’m here for it. But they also have some really sweet and tender moments that are unexpected happen between them. This book does end with a huge cliffhanger, so be prepared, because I most certainly was not and now I will sit and wait impatiently for book two to release! Fantastic start to this new series for Ella!

Holy Shiitake, I need more
OMG, great way to leave me with so many ways to spin the two books.I love Sean & Xander. Their story is such an amazing beginning of the enemies to friends, will she get them to lovers, time will tell.Sean is my new love, I love how she weaved his growing attraction to Xander and how Xander was the voice of reason. But fate has other plans for these boys. And so does Ms Frank. Can’t wait to see what’s next

Unreal plot, no sparks at all
Sorry to have paid for and also read this book. The ending wasn't exciting at all, but I knew that there was a follow-on book. I won't be buying the next book.

Opposites do attract
Ella Frank is a one clicked Author for me.Xander and Sean are a prime example of opposite attract.Xander is a classy, well dress super rich news anchor that lives this luxury lifestyle, and he has no time for a love life but rather a very extensive one night stands. He lands in some serious trouble and needs help.Sean is your typical bad boy, messy hair, worn jeans and baseball caps. Hes a detective and is in need of some serious RR, as Xander he also loves to play the field. When Sean offers to help Xander the sparks start to fly and the sexual chemistry is just off the chart....I fell in love with these 2.I can't wait for more.

Ahhmazing!
I keep thinking one of these days i'm going to pick up an Ella Frank book and hate it. I keep thinking theres no way this is going to be as good. I'm wrong. I'm always wrong! This book is incredible! 4am i stayed up till to finish. It's been a long time since i've done that and now i have to wait! Ahhhhhhh it's killing me already!! I need the rest!!!I knew i'd love Sean. I just knew it! The grumpy, filterless, broody ones are THE best characters! I love him! Everything about him! He's brilliant!! The fact he's straight makes me love him even more! Watching him accept his feelings better than Xander does is amazing!! Watching him go growly protective Alpha over Xander is heart thumping. Just watching him full stop is incredible. I love him! He's a sweetheart!I love Xander too. I do. Some bits i wasn't happy with him about, he is quite judgy with Sean. I understood why. Years knowing Sean but not really getting to know him see's him make assumptions about the guy he is. I get it. Also he's really stressed and Sean's the one there to take the brunt of his frustrations but yeah a few times i wanted to put him in the naughty corner for his sharp tongue! As i said though i do love him. He's very vulnerable at the moment and i think this is whats opening his eyes about Sean. He hasn't got fixed views as he's confused and scared so he's seeing things he wouldn't normally look at.The two of them together are like a boiling pot. At first there's a few popping bubbles and hisses. Then it's calm for a little while they're settling in and but by the end of this book theres a lot going on under the surface. The climax is coming and i can't bloody wait for it!! It's gonna get messy and i can't wait!!The storyline is gripping. I'm hooked. It's twisting and turning and exciting it's unputdownable. I have zero clues who the bad guy is and i love that! You're thrown crumbs here and there which take you in different directions but yep no obvious one's yet!! I need Detective Dick's help to unravel this! This is why i love Ella's books. The writing is intricate without being confusing. She throws in a thriller/mystery plot to get you thinking and at the same time character builds like a boss! It all goes together seamlessly and when you stop reading and think about what you've read you realise how genius she is. You get it all and it leaves you mind blown! There's an added bonus here too of seeing how Bay and Henri are getting on. I love those two! I'm being greedy and hoping down the line brother number 3 gets his story told aswell! Can't recommend this book and author enough! There is a cliffie. I mean you can be pretty assured it all turns out ok because there's more books but... yeah it ended on a... nooooooooo you can't stop there!!! LolDesperate for more!! Gimmie gimmie gimmie!

Just Brilliant!
O.M.G! I love, love, LOVE this 1st installment of Sean and Xander's story! We've met both of these guys in Bailey and Henri's books - Sean is Bailey's brother and Xander is his best friend. Xander is also a famous news anchor who's got himself a stalker. Sean, a seasoned detective who's used to undercover work, steps up to protect him. There's so much going on in this slow burn episode: best friend's brother, bodyguard/protectee, (kind of) enemies to lovers and fake boyfriends...all wrapped up in Ella Frank's usual standard if brilliant storytelling.Full disclosure? I was pretty sure there'd be cliffhangers involved so I purposely waited until now to start the Prime Time series...and I'm so glad I did because I raced through Inside Affair in one hit. I can't wait to dive into book two in the series - Breaking News, here I come! 5*

Absolutely Amazing
Inside Affair is a blinding start to the Prime Time series. For some reason I don't fully understand, going into this book I didn't expect to like Xander and Sean. In a sense I guess I didn't - I ADORED them. Halo and Viper will always be my favourite Ella characters, but I think Xander and Sean are up there with Panther and Solo wrestling it out for 2nd spot!!I was absolutely hooked from the second I started Inside Affair. It's such a fabulous book. Brilliantly written, great characters, fun, snarky and with an OMG moment. Seriously what more do you need??As a side note although it pained me to do so, I'm glad I waited so I could read all 3 books together!! This is a definite must read series.

4.5⭐ A fantastic start to the series.
This was a fantastic start to Ella Frank's new Prime Time series featuring straight detective Sean Bailey aka Detective Dick and gay prime time anchorman Alexander (Xander) Thorne, and I was really hooked as there is so much intrigue and longing between these two characters, who start barely able to be in the same room together and slowly end up wanting to rip each others clothes off. 😉And with a cracking edge of your seat cliffhanger, thanks to the stalker plot line. This really was an entertaining and gripping romance. That I would happily recommend to others, and I can't wait for July and the release of book two. 👍

Looking Good
A new series from Ella and what a beauty. Sean is straight or so he thought until he meets Xander a popular new anchorman who need his help a find out who is stalking him. This book leaves you in a cliffhanger so I’m looking forward to the next book, hopefully it won’t be too long in coming
