Informative & easy ready business novel
As an outsider to accounting, I found Gayle's book an excellent entry to the challenges a professional service firm faces to grow. It was a quick read and enjoyable read. The more I read, the more I got into the story of the firm and its success. In the end, the story's emphasis on business culture and company-wide alignment to drive growth resonated with me as a business owner. The growth principles can be easily applied to other professional service firms, small or big, in different industries.

Great book! A must read for all CPA firm partners
This is a great book. The novelistic style made it very interesting and not another boring marketing or business development textbook. I highly recommend it for anyone working in public accounting who wants to grow their practice and take their firm to the next level. The Practice Growth Model is a structured approach to new business development.CPA firm owners need to wake up and realize that it's a different market out there now. Clients are much more intelligent and sophisticated than before and you can't just hang out a shingle anymore if you expect to grow. The information contained in this novel will kick start your practice to new opportunties.

This Describes Many CPA firms I Know
Ms Crosley and Ms Stover crafted a great way to describe many of the problems with today's CPA firms and what can be done to help. Having met thousands of CPAs in my career as a M&A advisor to accounting firms I could recognize every partner described in this book.If you are frustrated with practice growth then is would be a good read for you.John R. Change the way you think about practice growth
As the managing partner of a small but growing Certified General Accounting public practice firm (15 staff) in New Westminster, BC, I wear many hats. Production Manager, Marketing Manager, Professional Development Manager, Privacy Officer, Quality Assurance Manager, and others too numerous to mention. It is refreshing to find a book that describes a firm and its journey from being a "do good work and you will grow firm - focused on production only" to "a firm that uses strategic, directed, planned methods of growth, while you do good work".Having previously worked in firms that have had an "eat what you kill" approach to managing the practice, I can see many of the challenges that were described at the firm Crandall & Potter prior to the culture change.I would recommend this book to anyone who is a partner, or aspiring to become a partner in a professional service firm.Jason Trefanenko

Grow your firm and change your culture.
Very good book for those professionals, especially CPA firms, who are looking to change their culture to a focus on growth.

Surface level fiction
This book contains a fictional story about a smaller accounting firm (~10 partners) experiencing below-industry-average growth. In order to grow the firm, the managing partner seeks advice and coaching from a partner at a firm that is growing substantially. The actual advice is pretty superficial. If that is the exact situation you are in, you *might* find something useful here.If you aren't in that specific situation, there isn't anything here of substance. All technical aspects are glossed over, and just googling "practice growth model accounting practice" yielded a 1-page pdf that included all information discussed in the book.At least it was a quick read.
