I like to buy products made in USA.** A: Yes, made in USA. Glad to see that others care about buying made in USA. We have superior products, less counterfeiting and no child labor. Both democrats and republicans support products made here in the USA! **Q: What type of steel is this hatchet made of?** A: If the company says it's 1055, as a previous customer indicated, I wouldn't doubt it. I've owned this axe for a while now and find it to be of excellent quality. 1055 is a durable carbon steel that is excellent at withstanding shock. It is a fairly economical steel, probably not that much more costly than 420 so I don't know why they'd even have motivation to mislead on that front. If they were claiming it was something more costly like O-1, or a tool steel like D2 or M2, I would find that a little more suspicious. **Q: It indicates that it is 14.9 ounces. Is that correct? Most of the fiberglass handle hatchets seem in the 1.3-1.4 lb range.** A: I just received mine and weighed it on a scale accurate to 1/100 of an ounce. The weight including the included synthetic sheath is 30.05 oz and w/o the sheath is 28.45 oz. This converts to ~1.87 and 1.78 lbs, respectively. In other words, as of 2016 Feb 07, the Product Description weight of 14.9 oz is completely off for the hatchet I received. **Q: Is this e24ase axe made in the u.s.a.?** A: Rockford Illinois is an old manufacturing town. There is a Jeep manufacturing plant a few miles down the road in Belvidere, IL. Estwing is one of the old, original manufacturers still left, and probably the best axes you can buy, especially for the price!! ## Frequently Bought Together - Estwing Sportsman's Axe - 14" Camping Hatchet with Forged Steel Construction & Genuine Leather Grip - E24A - DDF IohEF Axe/Hatchet Sharpening Stone 180/320 Grit, Professional Whetstone & Tool Sharpener, Axe Sharpener with Portable Bag - ESTWING Camper's Axe - 26" Wood Splitting Tool with All Steel Construction & Shock Reduction Grip - E45A --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ma/products/20762923-estwing-sportsmans-axe-14-leather-grip-hatchet-e24a](https://www.desertcart.ma/products/20762923-estwing-sportsmans-axe-14-leather-grip-hatchet-e24a) --- *Product available on Desertcart Morocco* *Store origin: MA* *Last updated: 2026-10-19*
