Extremely quiet, fast cooling
I'll start by saying I had to make a fast decision because our previous unit was destroyed by rodents. I got extremely lucky!I just measured the noise levels in db at 24" for full compressor and fan operation - the loudest average noise from this unit is about 68 db. At the same distance, an average conversation is closer to 85 db. Also, the character of the noise (the range of frequencies) makes a big difference. The unit's noise peaks below 5 kHz, while conversation mostly happens between 5-10 kHz. That means while you can hear it, it does not interfere with average conversation or the TV.On fan-only mode using the highest setting, the noise drops to about 62 db on average, and the lowest fan setting gets down to a background level of about 48 db. That is literally whisper quiet according to the audio recorder I'm using.I cannot hear any mechanical elements, such as loose cowling or vibrations. All I hear is the steady noise of air moving from the fan, and the low hum of the compressor when it kicks on. Even when the compressor starts, there is no startling impulse noise - it just hums to life. The filter is really easy to clean, and cooling for this 8k BTU unit is surprisingly quick. Installation is standard and fast, and did not require any stands or braces for my double-hung window. However, I did replace the accordion 'wings' with R-5 styrofoam insulation.I absolutely recommend this unit!

Really Quiet!
This AC has really surprised me - I upgraded from a really old hand-me-down, which was loud, inefficient, and on its last leg.I shopped around for a few weeks before purchasing this model. I originally wanted to spend around $200 for around a 6k BTU unit, but was drawn into this one by the features (Wifi) and sleek looks. I'm really happy that I did spent a little more because this unit has really surpassed my expectations. The WiFi capabilities of this unit is a really nice feature since I can set timers/schedules to when the unit will automatically turn on. Also, being able to turn on the unit from the app is another feature I love. The only issue I've had with it was not knowing to remove the drain plug at the bottom of the unit, so it became a little louder than it initially was right out of the box. This was totally my fault and I figure out the issue by reading a review on amazon by someone who was having a similar issue

Definitely quieter than a standard window A/C. Be sure to remove black drainage plugs.
The media could not be loaded. This Frigidaire window air conditioner is definitely quieter than a standard unit. It does have a nice modern look and kicks out pretty cold air. Perfect for a small to medium sized bedroom (or room), however it would struggle in a large size room. Important Note! > Be sure to remove the 2 black drainage plugs at the bottom of the a/c unit (outdoor half) to allow condensated water to drain, otherwise it will start making a loud, annoying sound! Probably pays to read all the instructions carefully.

It's super quiet and cools very well, but the display annoys me; also, price has doubled!!
Update 12-28-22: I see the price has doubled! I purchased 2 of these (last one in Oct. 2021) for $300 each. It's now over $600 per unit on Amazon. This is no doubt due to this popular model being discontinued. I probably would have bought more of them for $300, but I won't pay $600+ for this model, and I recommend readers either wait for the price to drop on Amazon or find someplace else that still has them at a reasonable price.Original review follows:I bought one of these from Amazon for use until I get a replacement HVAC unit installed in my home. I liked it enough that I bought a second one from Amazon for another room.Pros:1. Lives up to the hype of being super quiet.2. Cools very well.3. Reasonable price for what it delivers.Cons:1. Shipping container is under-engineered. My first unit arrived with significant damage. Many others have experienced the same. The second unit arrived in excellent shape, so it's a coin toss. The box should be redesigned for the stresses of typical shipping practices.2. The app can be a major pain to get set up, but if you have the patience to get it working, it continues to work very well from then on. I typically use Google Assistant, which recognizes a number of different phrases – e.g., you can say, "Raise (or increase) the temp by a couple degrees." and it will raise by 2 degrees; you can say, "Set [name you gave the unit] temp to 75."; or, if it's the only connected Frigidaire unit, you can just say, "Set temp to 75"; and so forth. Assistant's use of the app is swift and reliable. You can also send multiple commands at once – e.g., you can say, "Raise (or lower, or drop) temp by 3 degrees and set fan to high speed." I haven't had any luck creating a schedule via Google Assistant nor Siri, even after assigning the Frigidaire to their respective Home apps. I haven't tried Alexa, but AFAICT scheduling must be done manually in the Frigidaire app. Perhaps Frigidaire will address this in a future app revision. It irks me that the consumer must create a Frigidaire account and register the a/c in order to be able to use the app with it. This, btw, is one source of problems with the app. I had to try numerous times to get Frigidaire to accept my unit just so I could proceed to configure the app and actually use it. IMHO, the consumer should be able to connect and control their own appliance w/o having to jump through additional hoops and forever link their product and themselves to the manufacturer's servers/database. But, them's the breaks, and everyone wants control of us and what we own nowadays, so we have to play along, if we want to make full use of the product – and as most realize by now, WE are the product, too.3. The remote is about the size of a credit card but of course thicker. I hardly ever use it or need it, since the app works so well. I don't care for the non-tactile membrane keys – unlike other membrane keypads I have, there's almost no feedback from the ones on this remote. If you're the type who tends to spill drinks on your remotes, membranes like this won't require disassembly to clean it up (unless the liquid gets in around the battery tray), so there's that. In any case, it works just fine, BUT you cannot set a schedule with it, you must use the app.4. What annoys me most about this model is the display operation. It's bright and I can see it from the other side of my living room, which is good, but I can't check the room temp with a quick glance at the unit.As per the manual, the display turns itself off after 60 seconds, and there's no option to have it stay on – you must press a remote button or use the app in order to make it appear again. There should be an option for the user to have it stay on indefinitely or at least schedule an off time. The added cost of a few cents from leaving it on is insignificant on a $300 power bill. Let us make our own choices! The manual, which I had read prior to purchase, also states: "The display will show the actual room temperature during normal operation."Wrong! The display only shows the SET temperature unless the user puts the unit into Fan Only mode. That's right. The user can't even see the room temp in any mode except FAN ONLY. Ridiculous. That is certainly NOT "normal operation", as most people buy these units to COOL, not just circulate air via fan. Both of the units I purchased behave this way, so it isn't just a random defect. It doesn't show anything DURING normal operation, because the display shuts itself off after 60 seconds, even though the unit is still running.I suppose an argument could be made that it's not necessary to display room temp in cool/eco modes, since the user will know the room has reached the desired temp when the compressor shuts off. Welp, I and probably many others like to be able to look over at a thermometer for a quick check, and in my case, compare the a/c thermometer to other thermometers.Any way you look at it, the manual lied about the display operation.5. The accordion side panels have enough gap where the accordions slide inside the rails to allow lots of air and small insects through, so you'll want to do something about that, such as caulk these areas. Or, you may want to use an alternative, such as solid board panels.Pro or Con, depending on one's point of view:The unit doesn't come with a bottom bracket/foot, so it's supported entirely by the window sash. This saves on cost, of course, and it hasn't proven to be a big problem with my old aluminum windows. They can handle this small unit, but I think vibration would be easier to mitigate with a support foot. If you prefer a bracket, go for it, but it's probably not necessary in most cases where the window sash is in good condition.Verdict:This model provides excellent bang-for-the-buck performance in a small, quiet package, with plenty of features to make most users happy. Most people will probably be completely content with this product, hence my 4-star rating, despite the cons listed above. It does a 5-star job of cooling, which is all most owners care about, but the cons are sufficient for me to ding an overall star.Frigidaire recommends that two people install the unit, but it's light enough that I was able to manhandle it and install it myself. If you intend to install it yourself, be careful and lift it correctly, or your back will be very angry with you. Good luck!

Quiet cooling, great looking window AC
I was eyeing this unit at home depot but it was $418.00 and I'd have to order it anyway as none were in stock, glad I found it on amazon for $329.I've only had horror stories with window ac units, aka window shakers, but this Frigidaire is super quiet and instant cooling! It seems efficient and the design nice is very appealing to me.Was terrified it would come damaged but it was packaged well and no damage upon delivery. The led lighting does go off though after you set it. WiFi function is nice.So happy to have quiet relief in our bedroom after our old whole house unit gave out recently.
