The White Company (100th Anniversary Edition): Illustrated by N. C. Wyeth

Top notch Doyle from SeaWolf Press.
To start, I have no idea what the other reviewer, that I can currently see, is talking about. This book's fonts and illustrations are definitely not too dark, and SeaWolf generally shades a bit lighter overall in my opinion. So hopefully the publisher isn't taking these ideas too seriously. Don't go any lighter than this. A first edition would more than likely have been much darker.Anyway, 'The White Company’ is one of the more ambitious historical novels from Doyle set in the backdrop of medieval England, France and Spain during the fourteenth century copious amounts of action and adventure. The keen eye of Doyle gives a lot of life to this period of Edward III, the Hundred Years' War, the Black Prince, and the Middle Ages as a foundation for it all.Published in 1891, ‘The White Company’ was a rousing success, and Doyle regards it as one of his finest works. If you need some chivalry and old-fashioned entertainment, you probably won't go wrong here. Love the hardcover, and everything else seems splendid about this edition.

Terrible black and white illustrations
I bought this edition mainly for the illustrations by Wyeth, only to discover they are in a terrible quality, extremely dark, almost like if they were a photo of the actual illustrations.
