Good Chain for Constructing a Proper Anchor Rode
Over a year ago, I joined a boat club knowing absolutely nothing about boats. I figured it would be a good past time since my family moved out to area with a large lake and I didn't want to invest a huge amount into something I knew nothing about. Over my many boating experiences since then, I've learned a lot about boating. I also learned about what I like and didn't like. Of those dislikes, I've learned that I *HATE* mushroom anchors. I suppose it's because they are cheap is the reason the boat club uses them for all their boats. I've read about them too... they do have a purpose but given the lake where I spend my time, they do absolutely nothing to keep the boat from drifting away. So with that said, I read a bit about anchors from Boating magazine and how to construct your own anchor rode. Following those instructions, I created my own anchor rode which I tote around every time I go boating. This chain is a big part of construction your own anchor rode. The purpose, according to Boating magazine is: "Regardless of boat style, all anchoring systems should have a boat length of stainless-steel or galvanized chain separating the rope and the anchor. The chain prevents chafing and abrasion. Its weight also keeps the anchor’s shank horizontal, allowing the flukes to better bite the bottom." Since then, my boat has never once drifted. Although this is just one component of the anchor rode, I assume because I made it correctly is the reason this works. The chain is heavy duty and fits the needs/specifications of the boat I use primarily (pontoon). Would recommend.

Good For the Money
Chain seems fine. Shackles are cheap but work. Suggest applying loc tite to the threads.

Great and sturdy chain. Definitely made a difference!
I have two boats over the course of 13 years and never used a chain before. Both boats are 23' and have had issues with staying anchored. I've used two anchors (bow and stern) on both boats. I might get lucky every now and then but always had issues during tides and other boaters who comes near--causing waves. Now with the added chains to my anchors, they stay hooked onto the bottom and I'm not having to recast my anchors or experience drifting and wondering boat. These chains are a miracle and work wonders!

Great choice for a boat
This is a great anchor lead chain. The weight is not so light to render it useless, but not too heavy that it's a stuggle to get it out of the boat. It comes with two shackles, which is a great bonus. I've been able to use it a few times and it goes out and comes back in flawlessly. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Very string

Solid, heavy. Overkill for my inflatable boat anchor, but better too much than not enough. Have some rust after several months use...not good
