Men's Original Cowhide Driving Moccasin

I have gotten so lazy and I am finding myself as I get older, I am looking for material items of convenience you might say. I have always wanted a nice pair of nice leather Moccasins. I first saw this exact pair on Lord and Taylors website, for a lot cheaper than I paid for them on Amazon. This was part of my birthday present. I was initially worried that when I received them that they may be too big or too small. That was not the case, when I received them they fit perfectly. I wear a size 11 and that is what I ordered, I love they way they feel on, very comfortable and they are so light in weight, I found myself having to look down just to make sure I had shoes on. The only negative thing I would say about them is they would not be my first choice to wear in the winter time, simply because they do not keep your feet warm at all. Then again, I guess they are not suppose to, because of the type of shoe it is. Thus far I have had no issues with them coming unsewn or coming apart. I would have to say that they seem to be made very well. So yes I would highly recommend these Driving Moccasins. I do not think you would be disappointed.

I’m impressed with the quality of these all leather shoes. The leather is thicker than I expected and yet smooth and subtle with an elegant finish. They are elegant indoor shoes that have a sturdy sole with cleverly designed soft rubber cleats that provide excellent stability on wet surfaces. The sowing is neat and tidy with a sturdy finish. I’m very pleased with their fit and feel. I look forward to caring for them as I expect them to last for many years.

I love the minnetonka leather moccasins. Leather foot ware for inside lounging is the only comfortable indoor foot ware I've found that provide the ventilation I need to be comfortable with my neuropathy. The double layer leather soles also make them durable for occasional use on concrete. My last pair with constant use lasted more than three years. They are relatively expensive, but will out last cheaper moccasins available online. In my experience, the Minnetonka fit seems tight for the labeled size. I bought a size 12 pair (my normal size), but had to return them for size 13. This is especially true for their fur lined moccasins. It seemed Minnetonka uses a size 12 moccasin, that becomes a size 11 after they line it.

[Updated 7/6/2013 - I bumped up my review from a 3 to a 4, and have changed the title from NOT an all the time shoe to MAYBE an all the time shoe. I'm still wearing these shoes, surprisingly, and they lasted a good bit longer and with harder wear than I expected after 3 months - I figured that if they were going to go, I might as well go for broke, and they're still very comfortable and reliable. I even have taken some long walks (not hikes) in them and they've done OK. The all-leather-and-nub sole HAS worn down - the only nubs left are at the arch of my foot, and I got a hole in the toe of one shoe that's not noticeable at all. But it still feels good, for those guys looking for a comfortable shoe. I still like using these as my go-to shoe, as long as it's dry weather... But come the rainy fall, I'm going to need a new pair after about 15 months of near-daily wear. I'd say the selling point after this time is that the leather is very very supple and still strong and looking good (I'm told I'm wearing dress shoes sometimes), and the sole, though nubs have gone, is supported by a fairly cushy sole-esque insert that does a great job at support.] 5/12/2013 I was looking for a shoe I could essentially live in March through October, and I've relied on either moccasins or boat shoes for that for about the last decade. Usually, knowing I'm going to just wear them to death, I get the cheapest I could, but I had a particularly unpleasant last go around - I wanted quality this time. A friend heartily recommended that I try Minnetonka, a leading brand in the moccasin world. Overall, I'd buy another pair of Minnetonka's, but these soles [the driving moccasin] won't do the job for an every day shoe. I like the construction of this shoe quite a bit - the leather came supple but stiff, and wore into my foot in about a week, and now fits like a dream, as an all leather shoe should. The leather insert is comfortable and has a noticeable cushion to it I'm not used to. The shoe fits snugly, which I enjoy - previous moccasins or boat shoes tended to flop on my foot more like full-cover flip flops than a full shoe, so this is great. As far as fit, I benefited from other reviews here and knowing I have an average-small width, I got my regular shoe size and it fit almost too snug until it wore in (again, a week), and then perfect. The real weak point of this shoe is the sole [or selling point, depending on your use]. The 'lots of little nubs' construction gave me a real flexibility, let me feel the ground in ways that my foot normally associates with barefoot, and still gave me traction when I needed it. All that was good. Unfortunately, I found that in even a month of wear, the nubs in the crucial areas are mostly gone, and the leather underneath is showing wear. After taking it to my shoe repair guy, he said, 'Only a matter of time - these just won't hold up to anything but carpet, and the car I guess.' Overall, I'd agree. If this was a weekend shoe for me, then perhaps I could swing it, but I wanted to wear this to work, where I do minor walking around a carpeted office and sit at a desk, then drive to schools and homes visiting families and children, so walking on driveways and laminate floors. It wasn't as though I was going hiking. I really like the Minnetonka shoe, but I'm going for the full-soled version moccasin next time. I'm also heartily considering heading over to LL Bean and getting their boat moccasin, similar in design and quality, I hear, and then I won't worry about being stuck with a shoe that's $60 and sole-less in three months.

I was looking for a house shoe during lockdown, comfortable enough for all-day wear and good to keep my feet from getting cold. I also wanted to have some limited outdoor wear, like running out briefly to the store. I elected first to get the Minnetonka Driving Moc; they were slightly snug at first around the big toe ball of my foot, but after two weeks they’ve already confirmed to the shape of my foot. I then bought the Moosehide slippers since they had the fleece lining the driving Mocs lacked. They were out of the box more comfortable than the driving mocs, the moosehide being more supple and soft. They’re slightly larger than the driving moc with some heel slippage. I take a size 11, and if I had sized down half a size it might have been better but these still work just fine. Both shoes scream quality. Great materials and attention to detail. The leathers on each could easily be used on a moc costing much more. Highly recommend.

I see others saying they got a size smaller, not for us. My son usually wears an 11.5 or 12. I ordered an 11.5 and they are 1/2 size too big. Either this particular pair was made larger or marked wrong because they were loose on his foot. The width fit snugly, but the slipped off when he walked. I had to return and order an 11. Otherwise, these shoes are awesome. Beautifully made and comfortable. Love the bottom rubber grip.

These shoes look great and look just as good in person as they do in their pictures. The leather is a nice deep drown and is good quality. As many others have mentioned in other reviews, the shoes must be worn in to fit comfortably. They are tight at first but after a few days to a week they will fit just as expected. If you are worried about the size I would recommend getting one size larger. The only two things that I have come across that I did not see in other reviews that should be brought to light are the following. 1. The treads on the bottom of the shoes. From the pictures online I had the impression that the tread bumps would be very dense and durable. This is not true. They are made from a soft rubber that feels like the density of a hard pencil eraser. The Treads work great and will last if you only use them on hard wood or polished surfaces. The tread will be worn out quickly if used on any abrasive surface like concrete, asphalt or rock floors. I have had mine for a little over 3 months, only using them 2 to 3 days out of the week and the treads on the heal of the shoes are almost gone. The point of all this is that the tread will not last long if you want to wear them every day like a normal shoe. 2. The only other thing that I want to bring to light is that the pad inside the shoe is not removable. I intended to remove the foot pad inside the shoes and replace it with an arch supporting insole, but the pad cannot be removed. So unless you buy the shoe 2 sizes bigger and place the new shoe insole on the original shoe pad you will not be able to use a different shoe insert. Other than those two things, the moccasins are the same as they are advertised. They look great and the leather is good quality. I would recommend them because they are the best looking moccasins I have seen but keep in mind they will not last long if they are used daily especially outside. Three stars because the moccasins look great, but do not last long.

Replaced my 16 yo pair this month. They last so long. Start losing nibs on the bottom at about 4 years. Leather bottom so water proof spray is needed if you run out into weather for errands. Wore in snow and rain. Not as soft as Moose. I'd really love them in Moose. I wear a 13 and a few ticks in shoes and boots. These are true to size, 13 and a few ticks. Measure your feet before you order! If you have gorilla feet, get wide ones in your size. They will stretch so you use the thick leather laces and tighten them up as years go by. These are not shoes. These are moccasins. Don't expect the same feel and fit. Great for running errands year round. Driving in them on the weekends are delightful.

Gefällt mir nicht so gut-sehr hartes Leder Minnetanke hat mir früher besser gefallen und ich habe sie sehr gut gemocht.

Very pleased with all aspects: materials, finish, colour, function, and they fit better than expected.
