The gold standard for rich smooth coffee
In my opinion there are not many better coffees than Santo Domingo—it is the gold standard to compare to. Many other coffees can have a subtly unpleasant sharpness or bitterness that you might not even be aware of until you try this coffee. Santo Domingo always has a smooth, clean, rich coffee flavor. It provides a pure coffee experience that I really appreciate.I first discovered Santo Domingo coffee when on a resort in the Dominican Republic. Very impressed by the coffee I inquired about it. When they identified it is “Santo Domingo” I thought they were just explaining where they got it—Santo Domingo is the capital city of the Dominican Republic. But after seeing the bag I understood it was the brand name. Thankfully this coffee is readily available via Amazon as I intend to continue to make it an enjoyable mainstay of my mornings…I see some reviews mentioning they received stale coffee and that it was not the same as what they had in the Domincan Republic. I suppose it's possible that occasionally some coffee may sit in a warehouse too long, or the like. All I can say is the coffee I received was of excellent quality and tasted just like what I remembered...

Best. Coffee. Ever.
This coffee is delish!I traveled to the Dominican in August (my first time leaving the US), and this is what I was served while there. I drank it black! I'm usually a froo froo coffee drinker, but not with this. You don't need froo-froo-ness with this! I purchased a bag to bring home and was very sad when I ran out because I didn't think I could get it here in the states, but... Thanks to Amazon and Phoenix Imports I am restocked. I don't think I will ever buy any other coffee. I love it that much! Besides it remindes me of my trip and all of the amazing things that happened while I was there. The coffee is so smooth and not bitter at all. I have brewed with a single serve brewer, traditional pot drip brewer, and the K-cup design as well (those reusable cups) and nothing can make this taste bad.I was told while in the Dominican that they add nut meg when brewing. I've tried that and it is good, but honestly you don't need to add anything.

Great coffee
A few years ago my wife and I went to the Dominican republic for vacation. While we were there I fell in love with the coffee. Here we are back home and it's time to find the coffee that we really enjoyed. The Santo Domingo coffee is right up our alley. Smooth and full of flavor. Everytime I drink it, it takes me back to the Dominican. I have purchased this coffee many, many times.

Delicious!
I discovered this coffee years ago when I went to Punta Cana on a vacation. One of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. I hadn’t been able to have any for a very long time because I could only get it by mail order. That was just inconvenient. I kind of forgot about. Then one day I thought to maybe I can get it on Amazon and Wala there it was! I’m very happy! Will definitely be ordering over and over.

A good cup of coffee
I'm not a coffee snob, and I don't frequent coffee houses. I just make morning coffee at home every day. A friend from Dominican Republic brought me a bag of this during her visit, and I found that I could buy it on Amazon, so I got a couple more bags. It's a nice, smooth cup of coffee when I want a change for a while. My usual favorite is Caribou House Blend, and I would say this one has an equally pleasing taste, if that is of any help. This coffee doesn't have that harsh, nearly-burnt flavor that some coffees do. It's full-flavored, but not overpowering. A favorite now with some of my frequent guests.

Commentary from a 40+-year coffee drinker
I rarely post comments on food or drink products. Why? Everyone's taste or preference is different. But, this product is so unusual, I will speak up.NOTE: I have never been to Santo Domingo, or the Dominican Republic, or anywhere else in the Caribbean.I have been drinking coffee for over 40 years. Hands down, this is the best-tasting coffee I've ever had. I've never tasted anything like it. It is never bitter, even when made with more than (stronger) than the recommended amount. I've served it mixed with off-the-shelf, powdered, cappucchino products, and black, and it's excellent both ways. There's a reason this product is rated 5-Stars (as of May 11, 2013). It is very-high quality!
