Excellent quality
This Bernette b35 has replaced a 30yr old Bernette Bernina. I have searched for a long time to find a good quality affordable machine and this ticks the box. I tried another brand before this and the other brand felt cheap and plastic like, so I returned it. This Bernette is very good quality; solid yet lightweight and I love it. It comes with a comprehensive manual, plenty of accessories and is very easy to use. I’ve only sewn a blouse so far and some test stitches, but so far so good.

An excellent machine
As a professional seamstress / sewist(?) for a great many years and wanting to replace my machine with a good, simple mechanical one, I came across this Bernette and knew it was exactly what I'd been looking for. When it arrived, I immediately unboxed and tried it out. I wasn't disappointed! I love that this machine is like decent basic (ie non-computerised) sewing machines *used* to be, but are virtually impossible to find now. Compact but sturdy, and good design with no fiddly components which mean you end up spending more time faffing with the machine than actually sewing! Everything just does what it's supposed to do, and does it smoothly without drama. Bobbin-winding and threading are a breeze. This machine has upright (metal) spool holders which are so much more secure than the ubiquitous horizontal wobbly plastic ones. The automatic needle threader is the simplest I've ever come across and it just......works. Every time. I especially like that should you prefer to thread the needle manually at any time, the threader doesn't get in the way. The bobbin is front-loading and really couldn't be easier to do. It has all-metal bobbin housing and uses standard plastic bobbins. You do need to remove the extension box in order to access the bobbin, but it just pulls out and clicks back in which takes just a couple of seconds. The extension box also contains a useful storage compartment to keep all the accessories that come with this machine. Again, it's easy to access - just flip the lid up. It sews beautifully too and there's a good variety of stitches and functions. This machine comes with all the accessories you'll ever need and a clearly-illustrated, well-written handbook which includes a QR code to click on for instructions to make a soft cover for your new Bernette! An ideal first project to try it out. All in all, I highly recommend this great 'little sister' machine from Bernina - one of the most respected names in the business.

It really works!
Great little machine with more than enough stitches to get projects done - the huge embroidery menus always look fun but it's just over-engineering and expensive. It's a bit noisy if you're used to a Viking or a Necchi, but it sews smoothly and without complaint.

A brilliant little war horse. I love it
Excellent value. When it broke down again, it was time to replace my faithful 40 year old Bernina. Horrified by the price to replace like for almost like (well over £1000), after reading reviews, for a mere £200, I decided to get Bernette. She is amazing. Perfect for basic needs but still does buttonholes and the basic fancy stitches. The needle only moves to the lift whereas my old one moves left and right but after getting another zipper foot, I was able to apply piping cord more easily. The sole plate on my old machine dropped for free embroidery and darning but doubt i really need this facility as only used it a couple of times in 40 years.! To conclude this easy to carry basic but sturdy little machine is perfect for my needs. It easily and quietly sewed 4 layers of medium thickness denim effortlessly and I highly recommend this machine. It would be perfect for a beginner too as it is simple to thread and use. It even has a needle threader which is perfect for those of us who now struggle with these things these days!! It does not come with a protective carry bag and the bespoke ones are rather expensive (they appear to be American) but a quick search on amazon and I have a perfectly adequate bag. I look forward to more effortless sewing and no longer struggling to lift and carry my old machine which sadly can now RIP.

Easy to use
Love it. It was delivered, unpacked, plugged in, sew. No problems. I would liked if the lever for lifting the needle was the same place as Singer has them, could operate with left hand. But it’s not a big deal.

I don't usually bother reviewing things, but since I couldn't find many reviews on this sewing machine before I bought it I felt like I was taking a bit of a leap of faith! Thankfully I love my new machine. I have been sewing on my Mom's 1971 Bernina Bernette for years and it still runs like a champ, but there is a lot it can't do compared to newer machines. Ideally I would shell out the $1200 for a new Bernina model, but that is way out of my budget. This Bernette brand machine while not technically a Bernina, is quality controlled by Bernina. I love that it is an all mechanical machine meaning maintenance is easier and it won't require software updates. It feels sturdy without weighing a ton isn't overly loud while sewing and comes with easy instructions on how to use its many stitches. I sew a lot of clothes and this comes with all the features I need. It has a great stretch stitch for sewing with knit, the automatic buttonhole took me a bit to figure out, but it works well--I'd say the buttonholes come out slightly larger than needed, but you don't have to open it the whole way. It comes with the hemmer foot which is the best for turning small 1/4 hems for ruffles, scarves, etc. And the zipper foot, while different from the one I'm used to using, works well. It comes with 5 plastic bobbins but universal bobbins fit as well. The only negatives I've found so far is that it makes a louder sound when sewing over multiple thick layers of fabric, but doesn't hesitate to do it, and it is hard to find extra feet and accessories sold to go with the machine online, but it comes with everything I can see myself using in the near future anyway.

I bought bernette b35 and honestly I m totally satisfied. I have gone through tidious search for a machine in the range around 15K. I have sorted out Usha Wonderstitch, Brothers GS3750 WT and Bernette B35. Without any doubt B35 is more value for money, better than expected and also it's robustness and sewing quality speaks the outclass performance. I got everything in comparatively lower price and better quality than other brand like brother & Usha. fyi..Barbette is an age old company and masters in this field.
