Are they wind proof?** A: I've worn them down to 20F and they are functional, but my fingers do get cold. I'd estimate they are comfortable down to about 40F gloves. The insulation is not as heavy as ski gloves. **Q: My boyfriend does land survey would he be able to use a hammer or close his fist easily?** A: You can make a fist and I've used them for general cold weather yard work, but the gloves take away fine motor skills. Gripping a hammer would likely not be a problem.
