Hasegawa 1:72 Scale F-15E Strike Eagle Model Kit

Bought as an addition in my office of favorite and well known War Birds. Picked this maker for its detail and fit.

The F-15E is among the best 4th generation of fighter bombers and is likely to keep flying in to 2040's at this rate. The kit has limited cockpit detail and weapons too. However the overall kit is good for 1/72 in surface detail. No pilots and limited weapons give this one a 3 for overall satisfaction. Recommended for newbies and those interested in 4th Gen aircraft.

There are some merits and demerits on this older Hasegawa Strike Eagle. The good news is that this is a gorgeous kit - nothing says Strike Eagle than Rockeye Cluster bombs - and there’s a ton of them in this kit. The quality of the kit is up to Hasegawa’s standards - for an older kit, and that is where some problems crop up. The biggest let-down are the raised panel lines. The wings get some etched panel lines, but the majority of the lines are raised. The second disappointment is the shoddy / inaccurate Engine Nozzle - it’s clearly not the typical nozzle of the F-15E, it’s as if they slapped on the F-16 Nozzles and called it the day. The last, but relatively minor gripe, are the decals used for the munitions - Blue Stripes means Training or inert ordinance - so if you want a real-world kit with LIVE munitions, you will need to replace the Blue Stripes with Yellow for the Rockeyes, and Yellow + Brown for the Sidewinders and Sparrows. Still, at the hands of an experienced person, you can make this kit really shine - especially if you paint it with the lizard green camoflage color.
