My Life with the Walter Boys

Better than the TV series
I watched the Netflix series and got this to see if the books were just as good. The book is way better!!!!! I couldn't put it down. Not to mention, the physical book itself is small enough that I can fit it in my purse without taking up too much space

It was good!
SPOILERS AHEADThis was a cute book! It was a quick read so not something that’ll take more than a week. I loved all the characters and the life of a big family.I liked how it wasn’t very predictable. Don’t get me wrong, but I feel like all books like this have the same plot. This was different. You knew where it was going to go but you didn’t know how.Personally, I didn’t love the character Cole, although I found myself siding with him on many matters. Alex was cute but I hated the way he was using Jackie. Jackie is the main character. The book describes her as organized, proper, and put together. I think they could have done a better job of describing her through actions. She wouldn’t always go with how it described her which makes sense at time but others it’s just annoying. Those are my thought!

Not a Goodbye but See you Later?
Finally Cole and Jackie kissed!!! Granted it took almost to the end of the book to happen but better late than never! I feel like Jackie played it safe to be Alex’s girlfriend! This book was very much enjoyable! Definitely would recommend to read! Now I’ll go and watch the series 🫶

Netflix Series better than the source material
This is a first for me. I'm accustomed to books far outstripping their on-screen adaptations because books can generally add more depth and context that the adaptation needs to filter out. It's a good novel, and had I not seen the Netflix series beforehand, I would've given this a better review. The story is appealing, but some characters feel two-dimensional, making their actions along the storyline hugely predictable (except for Lee).

LOVE LOVE LOVE
I LOVE this book! I finished it yesterday and I cried because it was over. It was not sad at all - the ending was one of those endings where it's happy and sad at the same time (you'll know you what I mean when you read it) - I just did not want the story to end. I'm still trying to bring myself back to reality and trying to make myself remember that it was fiction, but when I do that it makes me sad all over again!I loved Jackie. She was a great main character; she wasn't annoying and she was confident. She handled herself very well when she talked to the boys; they were gorgeous I probably would've just fainted at their feet. Even when some of the Walter kids were complete jerks to her, she stood up for herself and handled herself well. I didn't like some of the choices she made, however.I loved Alex. He was incredibly sweet and adorable and his a Jackie's relationship toward the end made me so sad. I want someone like Alex in my life. I think everyone needs an Alex.I also loved Cole, although he annoyed me throughout the story. He was always with another girl, and I know he was supposed to be your stereotypical popular hot guy, but he annoyed me sometimes. My heart melted at his an Jackie's scene at the end.I loved all the characters. Katherine (her gaurdian) was really nice to Jackie. And (most) of the Walter kids were fun, funny and nice. If I was Jackie I would lose my mind, but eventually warm up to their craziness. But just thinking about living in a house with TWELVE BOYS gave me anxiety. But, it was a FANTASTIC book! If this turned into a movie, I would audition, or be at the movie premiere!I can't believe that Ali Novak started writing this book with she was only 15. That blew my mind!I HIGHLY recommend this book! My heart is still broken that it's over. But I will DEFINITELY be reading this again!

Good book
Before I begin, I’d like to note that I read this as an ebook so I didn’t go through the struggles of messed up books.Id really give this book 3 1/2 stars. I read this book after I was about halfway through the television series and decided I wanted to compare my notes with the book. And honestly, I wasn’t the most impressed. It’s not like this is a bad book, but I’ve read better ones. But still, congratulations to writer such a hit book, Ali Novak! Now let’s get down to business. What I liked about the book:First, I think there was a nice flow to the book, and all the characters surface-level personalities were easy to learn. At first I though I could never remember all the characters, but I quickly could see the difference between Jordan and Lee. But you didn’t hear much about the younger children I’ll say that. I do think the book moved a little quickly though, I think the reason I thought that though is bc the television series added a lot more things like Will and Haley’s relationship and selling the farm to another character (that wasn’t included in the book). But that usually happens. 👍What I didn’t like about the book: there was really no character development at all. It honestly felt like you didn’t hear much about coles scholarship and didn’t deal with anyone’s problems. Also, when Alex and Jackie were admitting things to each other, it just felt really random and it was nearing the end so the author had to do this. Another problem, dealing with the grief just didn’t feel right. And Jackie never actually faced her families death at all. When I lost somebody, that’s not how it felt.Overall, if you want a quick book to read or maybe a book club book to start with in your club, you could choose My Life With The Walter Boy’s.

Fell in love with all the Walter Boys!
Captivating story of love, loss and discovery from a 15 year old girl's perspective. I throughly enjoyed the diverse relationships between all the characters and their progression even as an adult. The story was wonderfully written and immersingly descriptive. I hope the second book continues to make me love this family even more than I already do.
