Just a Little Too Small
I ordered the Gregory Amber 44 and Jade 53. I wanted the smallest practical pack so I wouldn't have extra room to tempt me to carry too much unnecessarily, and I needed a pack with a sturdy frame. I have all ultralight/ultra-small gear but even so I would have been cramming it in and still not had enough room for essentials for a weekend trip with the Amber 44. I also LOVED the U-zipper on the Jade 53 that really simplifies packing and accessing the pack contents. The one complaint I have about Gregory packs in general is that their hydration bladder hook is not compatible across different brands. I had to rig my Source brand bladder to be able to hang on the Gregory hook. It's a small inconvenience, but no reason for there to be that inconvenience in my opinion based on the flexibility of other packs.

Not for a heavier load
This pack is sooo comfortable when it is empty! I am a thin, petite lady looking for a light wt pack that won't bruise or rub raw my skin over my bony prominances. Thought this was the pack until I loaded it up with approx 20lbs of equipment, food and water. The pack just seemed to loose any support it did have and pulled heavily on the shoulder and hip belt which are on the thin side. I think it would make a great day pack but will not do for the 8 day hike we have planned. So disappointed this pack didn't work out for what me.

Great hiking pack for long trip
The Gregory Amber is a great backpack for overnight hiking trips. I went with the 65 size because I knew I would need to fit a bear canister in on future hikes. I am a 5 foot tall female. This was the most comfortable pack I tried, and I tried a lot of them before buying the Amber. I love how adjustable the shoulder harness and waistbelt are. This pack held all my gear and was comfortable for a 4 day hike with a total starting weight of nearly 40 pounds (I had 3.5 liters water plus 5 days of food). I put my tent body and fly in the bottom sleeping bag compartment and the poles inside against one side. That made the rest of my gear fit nicely with even a little room to spare since I didn't have a bear can along. The fabric and construction seem very durable. Mine didn't come with the hydration bladder and the 2l I bought didn't attach well. I had to tie it in. I never used a bladder before. I probably won't use it again. This was the only drawback to the Amber. Plenty of room for water bottles instead and they are easier to fill and tell how much you drink. I will definitely bring my Gregory Amber 65 on overnight trips again. It is the pack I plan to use to hike the Colorado Trail.
