cuts branches as expected. handles open a bit too wide (even for my dad) so i have to hold them closer to the blades. will update once i try to cut a 1" diameter branch!

I'm giving this 4 stars only because I feel I have not fully tested its ability's yet, but so far seems to be a very sturdy set of pruners! great buy.

Excellent pruning shears!
I LOVE these pruners!. My arthritic hands have lost strength over the years, and pruning was difficult and painful. These pruners have made all the difference in the world. The grip is more comfortable than that of my old ones, and it takes much less power to chomp through thicker branches than I previously would try to cut. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat, and recommend them to anyone.

Not so great
Not a great pair of pruners. I don't know if it's the ratchet part and small hand combo, but after trying to use them twice, I'm buying something else.
