GREAT LIVES: ESTHER TPC: A Woman of Strength and Dignity (Great Lives Series)

Loved this book. I was doing a study in Esther and was looking for a book which would give me a bit of background setting of the life and times around the book.It exceeded expectations, as well as the background info I was looking for it really engaged me, brought the story of Esther into modern day setting and challenged me to be challenged by how God worked in and through the characters then, that He can do it again in my time! I would certainly read more in this series of books.

An excellent book. Would highly recommend to anyone to ready, Charles brought so many 'new' aspects to the life of Esther that I had never considered before, have been extremely encouraged by this book and taken many lessons on board that apply not just to the life and times of Esther but to today also.

Charles Swindoll is one of the best Christian Authors I have ever read. This commentary is a gem so practical for today's society.If you want BALANCE, WISOM AND SENSE read Mr. Swindoll books please!

Anything by Chuck Swindoll will always be worth your time, and this is no exception. The Esther narrative doesn't need much commentary as its such a marvellous account of victory from the jaws of defeat it keeps your interest until the last verse. However, Swindoll does a sterling job of bringing out truths from the Biblical account, which of course is Chuck's area of gifting. If you want more of the same I can recommend Joseph, David and Elijah, all by the same author and all excellent.

I knew this was a used book, but the book was described as "used-like new." A book filled with underlining and the readers comments in the margin doesn't exactly qualify as 'like new!'

This book has taught me a lot. From forgiveness, to courage and humility. Truly it has reminded me that we are wonderfully made for such a time as this.

What an amazing book! It is surely written to inspire the lives of all christians (wether the women or men)!

If you want a collection of books about characters in the bible, Charles swindoll is the man to go to. I have re-read this book numerous times as well as the one about Joseph. They have encouraged me in so many ways. Charles goes so indepth when talking about the character, giving a variety of new perspectives and encouragement when you see how he puts their trials in perspective. I love his writing. Its simple but profound. I think these books are great to use as a point of reference if you are doing a bible study on any of these characters. I have used it numerous times for bible studies. He goes through the full story of them from beginning to end. It takes a portion of verses and talks about them.I think it is a great buy. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I have.
