If you can't light a fire with 1 or even 1/2 of these............... You shouldn't be playing with matches! They work great even with ferro rods. Help?!?** A: I use these for my pellet stove and not in my wood stove. In my wood stove or your fire place you will need kindling. Small pieces of card board or wood. I normally start a fire in my wood stove with a small pile of paper and card board. After that starts burning I start adding slightly larger sticks or pieces of wood. After they catch on fire I add bigger and bigger pieces until you can add your logs. The whole process takes about 10 to 15 minutes. You should remember to have 3 piles of kindling ready of different sizes and sufficient quantity before you start. Be patient and BE PREPARED.
