Window on the Bay: A Novel

Disappointing
I look forward to reading every book by this author, and was very excited about this one. I was so disappointed!! This book is about 2 very narrow minded women, who have made it to middle age and are now looking for love. The incredible elitist view of Maureen has is off putting. She is a librarian and thinks a plumber is beneath her. Jenna is just as bad, she thinks working in a restaurant is next to living on the street. Sorry, Debbie I was really disappointed in this one.

So Boring I had to Skim Read
I have read earlier Debbie Macomber books and thought they were nice easy reading. I was looking for a relaxing book for a summer weekend. Her current novel slogs along at a snail's pace. Detailing the excruciating minutiae of the lives of two divorced fiftyish women who seem to not have a clue about what life is like in the 21st century. Example: a woman librarian who has lived in Seattle all her life and does not know what the word "tailgating" means. You can't read a newspaper or watch a newscast without some mention of some team or sport and tailgating. These women don't know what to wear, where to go, what to say about anything. It is beyond ridiculous, more like they were divorcees in the 1950's. I kept waiting for something to happen, some plot, some anything. Like several of the other reviewers I skimmed through more than half the book. This was not some cheap second rate novel - but a full price best seller price for a new book! The only reason that made me keep skimming was not to totally waste the money before sending it to the Kindle Cloud. Actually this book made me angry for divorced moms everywhere - SO insulting.

Pretty awful
I like most of DM books but have to say this was pretty bad. Shallow characters, unbelievable situations, ridiculous dialogue. I said it on FB and I will say it here. If this were the first DM book I ever read it would also be the last.

Disappointing
I am a fan of Debbie Macomber's books so I thought I would love this one too. I didn't. The plot took forever to develop and when I was finally getting into it, I realized I had read over one-half the book. It just ended suddenly without resolution between two of the main characters. Only in the very short, "Five Years Later" chapter at the end did I find out what happened between the characters.

*** LOVED IT ! ***
I know many were disappointed in this latest book by Debbie Macomber. I was not one of them...quite the opposite. In Window on the Bay Jenna has been divorced for many years and her life has revolved around her two children. Her last child has just gone off to college and Jenna has an empty house. She thought she was prepared for this but she wasn't. She doesn't know how to let go of her daughter and let her live her own life. Jenna has accepted the fact that she will probably be single for the rest of her life. Then she meets someone but she doesn't know how to let them in. Her walls are too high.Jenna's best friend Maureen is also divorced and has one married daughter. Maureen is a librarian and has a regular customer that comes into the library on his lunch hour looking for her recommendations. He asks her out and it is a disaster. Both Jenna and Maureen have a lot to learn and who is it that helps them but their daughters. You really need to read the book to find out all that happens with Jenna's and Maureen's road to a happily ever after. I loved every minute of this book!

All Fluff
I wish I had realized that Debbie Macomber's books were made into Hallmark movies. This book has no substance; all fluff. I wound up skim-reading the last half because it was so lightweight. I didn't miss a beat of the story by doing this. No more from this author for me.

Sweet book
Debbie always writes books that touch my soul. The family in this story is not perfect as most aren’t. I don’t know why we feelWe need to be perfect. as women we are complicated as this story shows us and our past relationships. It unveils things that should be and heals the heart so great things, can happen.

Another 5 star read from Debbie Macomber!
Another great read from Debbie Macomber!I always look forward to Ms. Macomber’s books and I have never been disappointed. Window on the Bay is no exception. The friendship between Maureen and Jenna, the two main characters, is a main theme throughout the book. Both women are divorced and have raised their children as single mothers with no help from the absentee fathers. When the children are away at college, they begin to have time to think about themselves and plan for their futures. They have raised their children to be independent. Now it is time to let go.Window on the Bay delves into the lives of two women who have dedicated their whole lives to taking care of others. Now that they have time for themselves, where do they go from here?I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes good women’s fiction.Ms. Macomber has a talent for developing characters that make you feel like they have been your friends forever. Reading one of her books is like coming home.

Heart warming
It dealt with real emotions and the honesty that should be more of. Good read and good content. Nice way to escape by the fire snuggled in a blanket with a cup of hot tea. A good relaxing read. The world is good.
