Fluid Audio FX8

These compact speakers when used with subwoofers and highpass filtering sound like $2,000 worth of studio monitoring. The imaging, detailed sound and tonal balance on these punch well above their weight. Auto on/off and front volume controls are really nice features not found on competitive monitors costing much more money. I'm giving them 5 Stars.

I love these speakers...what stands out to me are the overall great sound, the on off button, auto sleep feature, great base and NO HISS at moderate settings...the build quality seems great as well...highly recommended

...not even near. This is a "Boombox". Lows are mushy and "boomy" , not detailed. Mids are just "somewhere there". If you are planning to listen the details - forget about it. reminds me of the Tannoy System 600's I had back in the day... although these have much more bottom :-)

Because of the way these speakers are designed, it is very hard to find a bad listening point. the highs are very nice and clear, very well defined bass and not too overbearing or muddy (even when pushed at max volume). The definition behind these is excellent, it really helps you visualize the instruments and their position in the mix and compared to my KRK ROKIT 8 (1st Gen) they are very clear and way far less harsh on the Mids. I did an A/B comparison of between these and my KRK's listening to Rinsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, and you could definitely hear and feel the difference between these speakers. At one point I simply felt the FX8 overpower and come out compensating for the lack of definition the KRK was having next to it. For the money I have to say these are a great pair of mixing monitors that are clear, precise and very well balanced. I am loving these now, but I am sure they will only get better once they break in. On a quick note, I recently reached out to the makers, and they assured me that the "hiss issue" some people were getting was due to an earlier model and that the issue has been resolved now. To prove it, they exchanged my fx8s for a fixed pair and I am happy to say that they are hiss free, still on point and sounding great. If you get a chance, jump on Fluid Audio's band wagon, these guys may not be a "traditional studio gear" name here in the USA, but that will change in time, I am sure of it.

I’ve recently bought in a pair of Fluid FX8’s for double duties: As a stereo pair for critical listening/monitoring in an Edit suite, and as a side-surrounds in a 7.0 setup. Swapping my much loved KRK VXT6’s for these was surprising - These are sonically superior in every way for AU$420 less! I really think the FX8 is perhaps the best kept scret in studio monitoring anywhere near this price point. I’ve heard many other monitors going for far more money that don’t give you so much. These may deserve a place in the history books! PLUSES: * Superb stereo imaging. * Similar voicing and accuracy to the famous KRK VXT series, noticeably better fidelity and response. * Coaxial design works supremely well and allows for smaller size, compared to other 8” monitors. * Front bass ported. * Usable down to around 35Hz as claimed. * No need for a subwooofer. * Also available in white (which is arguably better looking & more striking). * Level slider on the front is handy. * LOTS of A/B power. * External heat sink at rear. * Excellent connectivity. * Stand-by mode is handy. MINUSES: * Power switch at the front would have been nice. * No trim controls for highs, mids or lows. * No DSP as with Fluid’s FPX7, but you wouldn’t expect it at this price point, and sonically doesn’t seem to suffer without it. * Very minor noise floor.

Now they stand in my well-acoustically treated room, next to monitors, which are many times more expensive. And you know what? They are really not bad. Unexpectedly. And yes. The list of songs listened to is very "clever" :)
