Comfortable and sounds good
I received this unit for an honest review.I am a migraine sufferer, so any extra weight on my head is unwelcome. I have given up on over the ear headphones, preferring decreased sound quality from in ear units of similar cost, because of that. I have tried the flagship Bose and Sony over the ear cans but returned them both because of the weight on my head.I have a set of rarely used v-moda m100's because of their boom mic integration (and good overall quality) for when I need to be heard on calls. That's what you see in the picture (on the left)- you can really tell the difference in padding between the v-moda and the Cowin SE8's- the SE8's have a lot more padding that feels very plush. Especially on the band where it touches the top of my head. I am still not sure if I will use these as my daily driver because any touching my head is worse than none (with my earbuds).I took a Zoom call through my Windows server with these paired and the sound quality on the call was great and the mic did its job without issue. I tend to prefer a boom mic on calls but this works absolutely fine even with a somewhat noisy cpu fan in the background. The noise cancelling I am not convinced of... I am not an audiophile but it does muddy the sound a bit. Not a huge deal but if I am in a quiet environment, I will probably just leave it off. Because of the pandemic, I have no idea when I will be on a plane to really test that feature. The noise cancelling does completely make my cpu fan noise go away. The cans, considering they completely surround my ears, provide enough separation from background noise and leaving off noise cancelling cleans up the sound a bit.Battery life seems as advertised. It is perfectly fine for office use. I would never push 20 hours of use without charging. I was surprised to see micro usb and not usb-c on this new product, but I am ok with that. One thing I was pleasantly surprised at... my earbuds BT range is pretty horrible. Whenever I leave my home office to walk around the house, it becomes unlistenable with scratching or just flat cutting out altogether. With these, I don't get breaks in audio when going to the kitchen or bedroom.Overall, I like these quite a bit. I have the E7's I bought for my son and he's loving those still. I have a set of their HE5A's which I like but aren't my daily drivers.

Exceptional quality and a great package
After using Cowin’s E& noise cancelling headphones for two years, I decided it was time to upgrade. The E7 have provided great quality at a reasonable price and made them the perfect headphones to use at the health club. But I wanted a higher level of quality. Enter Cowin’s SE8. At $149.99, Cowin offers headphones that put you in the middle of a concert hall and probably a video game (not being a gamer I can’t attest to this) with a vibrancy of sound that is really great. The headphones, as noted, offer three setting of noise cancellation that is easily controlled by a button on the right earpiece. All controls, it should be noted are on the right earpiece and while they may seem small at first, they work like a charm. In addition to noise cancellation, you can easily control volume, pairing, track selection and phone calls.Pairing is amazingly simple. I was able to pair them to my tablet, phone and laptop within minutes. Once paired, the SE8s connect flawlessly.Unlike the E7s, the SE8s do not have an overpowering base, but offer a well-balanced sound quality. They are lighter and more comfortable than the E7s, but that is a difference between a lower-level model and upper level model. As for battery life – that is a hallmark of Cowin. The battery life is amazing. I can count on two hands the number of times I had to charge my E7s and the SE8s appear to have the same long battery life.As mentioned, the SE8s are a great package. I was amazed to see that they come with a firm case, USB charging cord (to be expected), an audio cable if you don’t want to go wireless, a 3.5mm to 6.5mm audio converter and an airline headphone adapter. If you have any problems, Cowin’s customer service is great. Register your headphones and you immediately get a code for 20 percent off your next purchase. If there is one ding, it will be the manual. While it is detailed the type is really small and may be a challenge for some people to read. Manuals are, however, available online. The instructions are clear, and the type does not preclude you getting up and running with these headphones. In summary, if you are looking for affordable quality in a complete headphone outfit – Cowin’s SE8s fill the bill.
