Unlike my previous piano lamp (and some others available here according to other commenters), this one's base is heavy enough that it can lean out far enough to light the music and keys, without tipping over. The light level is fine, even if not quite as bright as my old one, but that used two 40-watt incandescent bulbs, so I feel good about the reduction to only 5 watts. I agree with another commenter that for piano-lamp usage, it would be better if the switch-button were on the TOP rather than on the front of the base, where (on my console-height piano) I have to pull the top of music on the stand out of the way to get to the switch. The power supply plug has a green light on it, which seems unnecessary, and which a family member found a need to block with black electrical tape until I moved it to a non-exposed location.

I don't normally review, but this product has had no reviewers yet, and I really like it, so thought I'd share my experience. This is a great little desk light. I use it to light up the front of my desk, it leans just above my computer monitor. I would describe the light color as "natural yellow". It's nice and bright, but not too bright. It also has two brightness settings, if you want it a bit dimmer. The leds are evenly distributed so lighting effect is nice. The build quality seems super solid, the base is very heavy for the size - about 2-3 lbs. The aluminum body seems well constructed. The nice thing about this light IMO is how low profile it is. There are other piano lights that are less expensive, but have a lot of flair. This one fades into the background and is just a really simple solution to lighting a desk.

I bought this lamp a couple of weeks ago specifically for lighting music on a piano. It is nice and bright and covers 2 large pages of music, which is very convenient. I am somewhat disappointed un its sturdiness, however. The base is not weighted enough and the lamp tilts if it is folded down very far. This makes it hard to light smaller pieces of music on the piano. You have to adjust very carefully to keep it from tipping forward. All in all it made my Christmas Eve piano playing at church much easier than in years past because I could SEE!

Ehhh.....It will do - as a serious pianist it is barely tall enough to go over the music stand of the baby grand, hitting music making it difficult to turn the page. It also create a lot of light at the top of the music but shadows the bottom of the pages. I wouldn't get it again but only got it because of the battery capability. If the lamp were 2-3" higher and brighter it would be perfect.

I really like that this lamp will run on batteries, or by plug. On top of a piano is always an awkward place for a cord. The light has 2 strengths, which are bright enough, but not overly bright. There was some concern about stability in some reviews I had read, but I have been pleased and have not noticed this, even when bent very far.

It seems well-made with smooth, tight finishes and an even light distribution. The comment regarding overbalancing concerned me, so I tried to get it to tip over -- made sure the plug was out, took out the batteries, and rotated the arm as far forward as possible -- and found it would just start to teeter at the forward edge. So, I replaced the batteries and that scant additional weight in the base eliminated any suggestion of instability. With the arm adjusted to any sort of angle, I don't see how tipping would be possible.

Light is not as bright as expected. Yes it would be good in a dark room or sanctuary but if there are other lights on in the room it is not very bright.

It's not a good reading light my son how is 9 said light it to dim for the piano music I look at it thought it was on low setting but it was on high, they use a warm color LED if it had cooler LED it would work better.
