Simply stack modules and pair with sensors to bring an infinite number of projects to life About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Electronic building blocks How did you come up with the idea for this product? A few years ago, our founder was working at another company and was tasked with monitoring the temperatures of a server room. He got tired of getting up and walking to that room all the time so he created an Arduino project to do it for him. It worked, but the device was clunky and required tons of soldering and complicated coding. He decided to simplify DIY electronics and so Microduino and mCookies were created. As Bill Gates put it best, “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it. What makes your product special? Each module is about the size of a quarter. They are magnetically stackable, which means users do not have to know complex coding or soldering to use the mCookie. Also, our wide array of peripheral sensors, modules, accessories makes DIY projects amazingly easy without the worries of compatibility. What has been the best part of your startup experience? The most stressful part of managing a startup is constantly worrying about whether it’s going to thrive or flop. When our Kickstarter received backing over 500% of our goal, that was a moment of validation from our fans and it was amazing.

Made My Old Lego Collection Smart Again!
I have used and reviewed a lot of gadgets in my life. This is by far the coolest thing I have ever reviewed! As a kid I was obsessed with legos. I had (and still have) a large lego collection. I was also always taking things apart to see how they work and fit together. After learning to solder in 2nd grade, it didn't take long for me to start fixing things around the house and building basic electronics projects. As I grew older, and computers started becoming mainstream and accessible, I began playing around with basic programming. I'm an 80's kid, so all of this stuff came late for me. When I saw the mCookie kits, I knew I had to get my hands on one. The mCookie kits are everything I wish I had, back when I was a kid. The fact that they are lego compatible and combine mechanical, electrical, and software engineering ideas into a user friendly package makes this a winning product all day long.Microduino simplified the already popular user programmable micro controller world of Arduino, by making their modules and sensors stackable with common pins. This cut out some of the advanced electronics knowledge needed, while making builds less permanent with swap-able modules. They took this one step further with the mCookie series, by using spring loaded pogo pins, magnetic stacking and compatibility with lego bricks. That opens up a whole new world for project builders and tinkerers, both young and old.Being the expert kit, it is assumed you have either played with some of the other mCookie kits already, or have a basic understanding of the arduino core concepts. If you are looking for a good place to get started with Arduino, Mircroduino, or mCookie and have little to no experience, you may want to consider starting with a smaller project package like the mCookie itty bity city Microduino Itty Bitty City. It walks you through your first few builds with a full color, lego-like user manual, and comes with the lego bricks you need. From there, you can move on to the advanced or expert kit. Neither of which come with lego bricks.Pros:+ Very simple, easy and fun+ lego Compatible+ This Kit Has Every Module and Sensor you Might Want+ Teaches Core Engineering Principals in a Fun and Approachable WayCons:- No Included Projects. They should include the 4-in-1 Demo in the Instructions- Sometimes the PoGo Pins Don't Make Good Contact and You Have to Reset the Project a Couple TimesConclusion: If you have kids showing interest in programming or engineering, the mCookie kits should definitely be on your shopping list. If you are an old school 80's kid tinkerer like myself, the mCookie kits should be on your shopping list. If you just like legos, or want to be able to make quick project prototypes, the mCookie kits should be on your shopping list. Bottom Line, the mCookie kits should be on your shopping list!Amazon limits video resolution and size, if you want the Hi-Def, full-length version, head over to the GadgetClass channel on YouTube.

Amazing product! Easy to assemble, fun learning process!
I bought this as a gift for my mom who is a STEM educator. She was so thrilled when she opened it. Her 8th grade students were amazed at how they did not need to solder anything and could just drag and drop the code using Scratch and Arduino. Microduino's app is very intuitive. Her school is looking into presenting this to their school district, so every school has one or more! She truly was amazed that this kind of product is on the market for kids to learn how to program and code. For any teacher or maker who wants to have a complete kit, this one is a winner!

I believe this is the best Arduino prototyping kit yet.
I bought the mCookie way before it was available. I thought the idea was brilliant and having tried out previous generations of Arduino boards, and project boards, I thought this reusable kit was a lot better for prototyping and testing concepts that its cheaper, but more permanent counterparts (soldering is not required with this kit for most projects). The Expert version comes with a very nice assortment of sensors and output elements. I absolutely recommend this kit to anyone interested in prototyping with Arduino. The mCookie modules have a 1x4 LEGO compatible tile on each side. This makes it compatible with the construction pieces, but be aware that the sensors themselves are not plug-and-play with the LEGO Power Function elements (motors, IRs, etc), nor with the Mindstorms sensors or the Mindstorms brick. You can complement your project, that is a big Yes! though, not interchange parts among them.It is an expensive kit, but I don't think you'l regret the investment.

Best development board ever
Cool! I just used it to build my robotics team project. Much easier to use than the conventional Arduino. Best development board ever!
