a must have for any serious EOS M owner.
One of the best things you can get for your Canon EOS M.note: i stupidly thought you had to unscrew the tiney little screws on the bottom of the tripod mount to take it off. d'oh. there is a ridged disc thing underneith you just turn to unscrew it silly me!The Canon EOS M is a great little camera but the one downside is that it only comes with 4 EOS M lenses . two of them the 18-55mm and the 22mm expecially are both very good to have but if you really want to have the option of either using canon lenses you already have or to open up to the whole range this really is a must buy.the thing is the EOS M has great image quality and if you are new to photography or have been doing it for years but just not had one of the newer dslrs in the last few years then this is perfect as you can start with the kit lens or the 22mm (both is recommended) and then buy this and open up much more options.I started out with thinking that all you really need is a basic kit lens in dslrs if your not a pro. IT would be good enough and you really dont need any other lenses. after i got the 22mm i saw the huge diffrence that a spacific prime lens can really bring it really does make the diffrence and a kit 18-55mm lens is fine for general stuff but if you want to get into more things like portraits or wide angle stuff its great to have a spacific lens for your needs and unlike a lot of those so called camera adapters for other cameras and such you do not have to worry about any issues as this is the official made for canon by canon adapter. THe reason that this compatiblity wasnt built into the camera itself was just mainly size it adds a bit more but still is lighter then having a full sized slr attached to a lens :-) and actually even a longer lens like the 17-85mm looks great mounted to the thing too! makes you kinda feel a bit more professinal too even though you have a smaller camera!but keep in mind if you only want one or two lenses you may want to stick with the 18-55mm and the 22mm lenses for the eos m but one of the reasons i bought this is i realized that my old lens was a 17-85mm and was def worth the price of the adapter to use with it!and now with it few can doubt you and say "well its not as good as a dedicated dslr is..." nope not true! and you kinda look pretty cool having a smaller camera mounted to a bigger lens too :-p

Essential accessory to the EOS M mirrorless camera!
Since the EOS M camera system debuted, there has been a need for additional lenses to the 2 that launched with the camera (the 18~55mm and 22mm pancake). Canon has launched 2 more lenses (the 11~22mm and the 55~200mm), but are not available in the US outside the gray market or eBay.This adapter provides a solution to the problem by allowing any EF or EF-S lens to be used on the EOS M camera (or any future model that uses the EF-M mount. And since it is a Canon adapter, all of the lens-camera communication will work, including autofocus and aperture setting. Now I am able to use my 50mm prime, or even my go-to 15-85mm lens on the EOS M. While the resulting camera/adapter/lens combo may be a bit ungainly and front-heavy, it does get the job done and lets the lens be used to it's full sharpness.Using the adapter with these lenses is not a perfect solution, however. The focus hunts around a lot and it can take multiple attempts to get the correct focus lock (something which does not seem to be as much a problem with the native EF-M lens. Also, it can be a bit awkward to get a proper grip on the camera/adapter/lens combo for some shots, but until there are more EF-M lenses available, this is the best solution at this point. The adapter also comes with a tripod mount which facilitates a more balanced mount point when using this adapter with a tripod. This mount is detachable so it won't interfere with handheld use.Lastly, the original list price of $199 is ridiculous. Fortunately, it can be found for as little as $45 online (including a white box deal here on Amazon).Bottom line: If you own a EOS M and have or want Canon DSLR lenses, then this is a must-have.

At the current price, there's no need for aftermarket adapters.
This is quite simple the most useful accessory you could possibly want for the EOS M. I recently picked one up, wanting a dedicated video camera as I use a 5D Classic for stills - the deciding factor on buying the EOS M was the existence of this adapter. With a bag full of Sigma primes and some L Glass between my girlfriend and I, there was no way I was going to buy a camera that wasn't compatible with the EF mount. For less than $50, I have been very pleased with the quality of this adapter (which I know originally was almost four times the price it is now). It's solid - almost entirely made of metal, and I'm very pleased that it has a sturdy tripod mount built in. With a heavier lens on an EOS M, there's just no way you want the tripod screwed in to the camera. All functions operate as well as they do on my 5D, in terms of AF and Aperture control. Not that I wasn't expecting this, being a Canon accessory, but there are no problems with infinity focus on any of my lenses.Overall this really is the best accessory you can buy for your EOS-M - even if you don't already have EF/EF-S glass, it opens up a world of hundreds of lenses rather than the handful of EF-M lenses out there. Highly recommended.

A Need for EOS M users wanting to use EF/EFS lenses
This adapter is a must buy for anyone looking to use their EF and EF-S lenses. It's made quite rugged and has a nice weight to it. I can confirm that it works flawlessly with EF-S lenses and has been proven to work just as flawlessly with EF lenses as well. I highly recommend this adapter! If you're a Canon user and in need of an adapter, I would stick with this oem product as it is likely to be the most well calibrated and compatible adapter for the EOS M series cameras.
