For its price, this is a great riser.
Mounted on a Ruger American 7.62x39 Bolts were a bit long, however I’d rather have too much material than not enough. With a dremel and cutting wheel, this will be just fine. Despite not coming with instructions, it’s fairly straight forward. Put cheek riser on, mark with sharpie, take cheek riser off, test drill with smaller bore drill bit, then use a larger bit that matches the bolts. From there clean it up and mount. I don’t mind having to trim the bolts. I realize that may be an issue for some.. but it saves a trip to the hardware store and will take me all of 5 minutes. Bolts were not rusted, they can also be painted if need be to prevent rust. All in all, for its competitive price (compared to others), this cheek riser works perfectly. Once locked down, it was snug and did not move. I’m happy with this purchase.

excellent cheek riser
drilling through a stock is always scarey, but putting thid riser was easy. I have large objective lens scopes and this riser adjusted up to give me perfect sight line. I have noticed an improvement in my shooting after installing this riser . No more lifting my head off the stock to see through the scope properly. I pull the gun up to my shoulder , now , and I am looking perfectly through the scope. Great buy for the price. Others were almost 50% more and they are the same, from what I can see

Works as it should but bolts came rusty
Product is made of quality material with no sharp edges. Works as it should. The bolts that came with the product were already rusting.

Cheap, easy, functional.
Cheap fix for a cheap gun. The comb on the Stevens 301 is too low to shoot properly with good form. This gadget fixes that problem for little money. Are there better comb kits? Yes. But they cost half of what this entire gun costs. Instals easily, works well, little cash. Am i going to put one on my Perazzi trap gun? No! But its great on a $199 China-gun that i shoot 3 times a year.

Same high quality but with a lower price tag!
I was looking around for a viable cheek rest for my bolt action rifle. I wanted something adjustable, which ruled out the strap-on models. I finally decided to get one that required drilling through my buttstock. This style was available through several different vendors, but I kept coming back to the one I am reviewing, purchased right here on Amazon. The price was quite a bit less than the others I had seen, so I went ahead and ordered one. If you're nervous about drilling your stock, there's no need to be. There are several videos available that take you through the mounting steps. I was hoping that the model I ordered would be the same high quality as the others selling for more. I was not disappointed! My order arrived, and I was very satisfied with the purchase. Mounting was easy, and the adjustability feature was just what I needed. With the non-adjustable cheek rests, you would have to completely remove the rest in order to remove the rifle bolt to allow cleaning of the bore. With the adjustable type all you need to do is tilt the front up and then you can remove the bolt. All problems solved!

The picture is not accurate... but it's still good.
The photo shows two parallel slots placed at identical heights (think "rectangle"). The one I received has to parallel slots that are off-set at different heights (think "parallelogram"). I think this actually works better for the monte carlo style stocks I have which have variable comb height dropping away from the bolt. However for flat combs, I think it might look odd. It would still work though. I really like the simplicity and the price. Works great for me and now two of my rifles actually fit very well. The right cheek weld is more important than LOP, imo. FIVE STARS

Economy option, but hardware is NOT AS DESCRIBED, and very cheap.
1-star because the description is false, and that is annoying. Short rant following . . . Listing claims black stainless steel bolts. They are not black, and they are not stainless--they are just zinc-coated (shiny, not dull like SS, and strongly magnetic). This looks bad, and since you probably want to trim the bolts for length, they will rust. Bolts are M6 (metric 6mm) x 60 mm carriage bolts. Good news, 1/4" carriage bolts fit in the slots just fine (maybe better than M6). Also, the clamping knobs are the cheapest, flimsiest, version of that hardware I've ever seen, don't know where they even found such poor quality versions. The threaded insert (looks like standard hex nut) part is on *outside* of knob, away from stock, which is wrong side for usefulness (if bolt is trimmed recessed, knob will easily thread off when adjusting, etc.) Much of the knob depth is unthreaded. This is counter to how real knobs are made. Knob plastic is also thin, cheap, and hollow-exposed construction. You should get different knobs. This is all annoying, because finding right hardware retail is difficult, but would have cost OEM a few bucks, and they lie about what they are including. This is the economy option, but I expected to get what was listed, not inferior substitutes. Matthew's Fabrication is the name brand in this market, and is about twice this price, but the hardware replacement alone will make that up. Piece itself appears to be a bit smaller than typical for this product--about 5-1/2" long, vs. 6" listed for others. It also appears to have a seam along top, like it was a molded part, instead of cut from sheet and heat-formed, like "kydex" would be? It is 1/8" thick. Slots on edges are not very clean or rounded, with lots of flashing/rough edges. Trying to heat form it, and a hairdryer has been insufficient. Upping to a heat gun soon, will report back. If bolts were as described, and knobs standard quality, I'd give this a 3-4 star rating.

Simple and effective
Easy to install as long as you are prepared to drill two holes through your stock. Great cheek riser. Really helped with scope parallax.

it works
Good for the price, make sure you square up your drill bit when going into your stock. Works as intended

Cheap but effective
This riser is a cheap solution that does work. It's a little nerve wracking to install it by drilling holes in the stock, so you should probably not install this on anything fancy.

Aside from the above mentioned qualities, it’s less expensive than most other less suitable options
Excellent product. Easy to install, especially on a polymer stock with minimal tools. Adjustability is very important if you ever change scopes, mounts etc. if you want to use iron sights you can just drop it down unlike a lot of other cheekrests.
