Slices like a dream
I mainly use it for onion cucumber, etc. I really like how thin I can cut things. The one thing I didn’t realize is that you actually use less of the vegetable when using this because everything it all the same thickness and perfect. No waste at all.

PERFECT
PERFECT for FISH FRY!!!! For the price, I did not expect too much, but WOW this thing is amazing! It cut my potatoes for a fish fry perfectly! It was fast and simple and adjustable therefore I could cut some to the thinness of a potato chip and others thicker. My new MUST HAVE for a fish fry!

Works well, but be sure to use all of the safety features
This is a wonderful product, but please be very careful with it. The blade is extremely sharp and you should utilize the gloves and guard anytime you need to cut things with it. I accidentally cut the edges of the plastic guard and it sliced through easily. If you're not cautious, you could easily cut your finger. It's great for cutting vegetables quickly and evenly and I love how easy it is to change the type of cut. The instructions are a bit lacking, so you may want to look up some videos on how to use it to cut different types of food. Additionally, the part that connects the blade to the rest of the mandolin will sometimes catch food on it as you're sliding it back and forth. The best way to get around this is to move the food quickly. The slower you try to slice something, the harder it will be. This makes the safety features even more important. Overall, this is a great product that lacks a bit in the way of instructions. It's has already made my life in the kitchen easier. I most recently made cucumber salad and loved how easy it was to cut perfect slices for the entire salad. My housemate cut sweet potatoes and unfortunately also cut his finger. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be careful when using this tool in the kitchen.

Cleverly designed, convenient to use and clean
I got this to replace, or maybe augment, a ridiculously expensive mandoline I received as a gift a few years ago. (It has its own suitcase and costs about 8X what I paid for this one). This one is so much more convenient to setup, use, and clean I don't think the other will come out of its case anytime soon. The dual flip-over blade and combination thickness/julienne roller is just clever, and means you don't have to keep track of a bunch of blades and parts to perform different functions. It's also relatively easy to clean and store compared to more industrial grade ones.So far, it's had no problem with carrots or potatoes, sliced both smooth and wavy/waffle, and English cukes practically slice themselves on it. I really think this will see a lot of use in my kitchen this summer.

Great mandolin
I bought this item for my husband because he grew pickling cucumbers this year and wanted to make pickle slices. This works great! So sharp and does the crinkle cut we like.

Not very easy to use
I was slicing a potato to make french fries. The potato got about half way through and it was like I hit a wall. I had to "force" the other half through, which can be dangerous. This continued to happen with every slice of the potato. It would have been easier, safer, and more efficient to use a good knife. The blade seems sharp enough but it doesn't slice through. The product itself I think is flimsy and doesn't allow for the force required to slice a potato. Sorry to say, but that was my experience. I cannot recommend this product to anyone.

Waffle fries!
Best product for the money I think I have ever bought on Amazon. High quality product. Very intuitive. Made in Europe, and well worth the money.

Terrible lack of directions - potential safety risks
REASON PURCHASED: for cutting waffle fries and other slicing applications. I appreciated the design intent: all-in- design not requiring attachments. DIRECTIONS LACKING: figuring out how to use the product was ridiculously frustrating. There is a one-page sheet with 3 limited photos and the directions are vague. HAD TO SEEK INSTRUCTION FROM YOUTUBE: the Shopping Channel's advertisement only showed the basic slicing feature. INTERESTING DESIGN: Remove the plastic blade guard or nothing will turn. Mine eventually fell off on its own. No Instruction for how to remove this. There is a center blade cylinder that turns to adjust the thickness of cuts. It also turns to produce juliene-style shreds and turns again to bring up a thicker square blade for larger juliene-style cuts. Another turn of this cylinder allows for straight slicing to produce chips of various thicknesses, and other slicing-type cuts; ie: bell peppers, celery, shredding cabbage, etc. FLAT BLADE SLICERS PIVOT: Then the flat, slicer blade actually pivots, but you must push in the 2nd knob and pivot the flat blade with your hand to bring up the 2nd blade (on the opposite end of this piece) for ruffle chips or waffle-style slices. POOR INSTRUCTION/ POTENTIAL DANGER: If the center cylinder blade isn't turned just right, it will block this flat blade from pivoting and locking into place. Also, the center cylinder blade comes out "for easy cleaning", but if you don't have both metal plates raised when you reinsert it, the plastic tab designed to fit into a hole slides down into a "u" shaped divot beneath instead of seating where it's supposed to. FLASH SALE: I wanted a quality, solid mandolin, and the original price led me to believe this would be a decent one. The Flash Sale and the All In One concept (no attachments to lose) cinched the sale. EXTRAS: It comes with a plastic food holder with spikes to hold food in place while you slice (protecting your hand) but it is flimsy and easy to lose control of. There is also a pair of gloves included as a 'bonus' which are all right but gimmicky, and a toothbrush-style cleaning tool helpful for cleaning off the lip of the flat blade. (an accessory that could easily be lost). Nothing in the directions state this is dishwasher safe, so I hand washed it. RESIDUE/STAIN ON BLADE: I used it to cut sweet potatoes and there was a residue left on the blade so not sure what type of "stainless steel" is used. OVERSTATED: Touted as, "...the only mandolin slicer that comes with what you need for safely slicing veggies" - a gross overstatement. The horrific lack of directions, plus the flimsy plastic food guide tool make this probably one of the least safe devices for slicing vegetables.
