I waited until this was on sale for Prime Day before purchasing for my shelter dog. The kit was super easy to use and the directions were very clear. It was exciting to have the tracking so you knew what step they were on in the testing. The results were CRAZY - 11 different dog breeds and so much information! I have recommended this kit to several of my friends, and I wouldn't do that if I didn't think it was worth the money. A few months later, I even purchased the additional testing information for behaviors, health tendencies and other beneficial tidbits.

I've used Wisdom Panel several times and have always found them to be easy to use, quick to get results from, and accurate (as far as I can tell!). There may have been a few surprises along the way with some mystery-breed rescues, but nothing I couldn't believe knowing the dog. I also had a purebred tested just to see and (happily!) the results showed him to be pure.Now the caveat: The last kit I bought through Amazon was supplied by Essential Direct and was fraudulent! It tells you on the purchase page who the supplier is. Do not buy from Essential Direct! Several of us had the same experience so check who the supplier is before purchasing and check their one star reviews. The kits arrive with serial numbers that have already been used, so are not usable as you can not register them with Wisdom Panel.

My vet suggested getting a doggie DNA test to test for potential genetic issues. He said that he could run tests but it would likely cost more than going this route. I did find out that my dog is a purebred - she is from the pound. I wouldn't have purchased the test just for that. I obviously didn't care since she was a rescue and I have no intention of her having pups or showing her. She pretty much just lays on my furniture and barks at squirrels. It was easy to use and I had the results in about 3 weeks or so. It was kind of interesting to see that she has relatives all over the world. I do wish it had a better family tree to see if she is inbred - I have the feeling that she might be some kind of a mistake litter since the entire litter was left at a pound.

I adopted a puppy from the Humane Center and they only said she was a poodle mix. So I wanted to know what the "mix" was. It only took a week or so to get the results and it was so interesting. I had not given them a photo or any information about my dog. They got the breed and the color and even the curly hair all correct. She is 75% poodle and mixed with Cocker Spaniel. I also really liked that they give you health results and any problems that this breed might have. That's always good to know so you can be aware.

Might be a 5 star, might be less... I sent in DNA kits for four of my dogs. Three of the results seem to be right on, but I'm having a hard time believing the 4th. I ordered another kit from a different company to double check, and am awaiting results. The tests are quick and easy to do. It said 2-3 weeks for results, and was closer to 2.

Weve recommended this to countless pwt owners who especially have rescue pups like ours. It helps to clarify mamy things. The report is so detailed they even check for predetermined illnesses and give interesting tidbits on breed traits. You canopt to pay extra for even more details but the basic report is already quite a lot. Highly recommend. It took about 4 to 5 weeksfor results to come back.

I have to say we were skeptical . But we had just found a stray and he had no owners. He became Crash our newest family member. But we were going rounds on what kind of dog he was lol. We all had our opinions and the bet just said a mutt. We wanted to know more though. This was a great test. So easy to use . You swab your dogs mouth, thats it . And in 2-3 weeks we know what types of dogs he is a mix of and some behaviors he may display( actually already was) and even some medical issues we should be aware of for his future. I could not ask for more. A bet would have charged a few hundred $$$$$$$) to do this i am sure if they even would. We found out our little man is a mix of husky, cattle dog border collie and shiba inu. And it totally fits don't you think? You can get more info for an added cost but this is what we needed. The test functions as made which you will be pleased about. Some say pricey but when you think about what they are actually doing, it is a value. DNA extraction and mapping is not a quick easy task . The test will not upset you furry baby either. Very simple and quick. They have the hardest part you swab count and pet , thats it. I would say it could not be more dog friendly. You will not be disappointed , we are not .
