myTouchSmart Programmable Indoor Digital Timer, Plug

Note: If you are looking for a "conventional" timer with an on-off switch, this is NOT for you. This timer turns on and off based on sunset and sunrise times in your area. There is no "on off" switch. Set time, date and region.....and the timer "knows" when sunrise/sunset happens....and turns light etc on and off. There is no "photo cell" so it can be used inside or away from daylight. Great value for this application. Very easy to install and setup. Highly recommend.

I have several other TouchSmart timers but with a single outlet. They are so easy to program. I was looking for a 2 outlet digital timer and was very happy that one was available through TouchSmart. This worked perfectly for ys as we could hide it behind a cabinet and plug in 2 table lamps.

This timer often winds up at the top of various "best" lists of digital household timers. Though it's billed as a "Simple Set" timer, the package says it's a "myTOUCH SMART (tm) SunSmart (tm) Plug-In Timer." So don't be surprised when you read the tiny type of the printed instructions (English & Spanish) and learn that this digital timer is as complicated as the others, and not as simple to set up as advertised. The initial three-button setup is fairly simple, involving setting current clock time, year-month-date and time zone plus Daylight Saving Time. After that it gets into somewhat confusing Programming Options, with two rows of custom on/off times: My On Time/My Off Time and Sunset On/Sunset Off (which other timers correctly call Dusk to Dawn or D2D). I get D2D's uses, by can't figure out why I would want to use My On/Off Time to set a different schedule for every day of the week. Then there are two Preset Schedules: Evening Preset which has its own button and turns the timer on at sunset and off at 12 am or one hour earlier, and Extra Programs, which has its own button and offers 7 additional on/off programs. The final complication to master during setup is to use the Up arrow to select the days of the week you wish each program to use. The seventh button on the face of the timer is a teeny square reset button. All of this is explained in a full page of instructions. Instructions are fairly well organized, but there's a lot of sequential button pushing required, and it's essential that it be done quickly and accurately. One mistake or wait too long between button pushes, and you'll have to push the fragile and easily bent reset button to start over again. Caution: take it easy on that little button with gentle pushes until you hear/feel the click. I've tried without success to program other digital timers, so after about a half-dozen attempts, I finally managed to get the timer set up with two Extra Programs on all days of the week. I wasn't sure I'd finally done it right, because the blue light didn't come on by the "my extra programs" button. But after I plugged the timer in and connected a floor lamp to it, the blue button came on and the timer performed its two daily on/off functions perfectly. Considering I bought the timer as a used item from Amazon, I feel it's good value for the money, even if I had to invest significant time in learning how to make it work. I also bought a second timer, but that one had a damaged reset button and a faulty LED. Which reminds me that you'll need a bright light on the timer screen during set up as the LED is dim. Also, the timer does not have a manual on/off button, which is OK because it's complicated enough as it is.

This timer is the easiest I have found and I have used many over the years. This is my second purchase of this specific timer as it meets my needs. My first timer I purchased still works and have had over 5 years. This has two presets, but you can set it to your requirements. Just plug it in, let it charge, use presets or your own, plug in appliance. I have only used this for lamps and have been very pleased with this timer. It is well made, size is good, and easy to read. Purchase price is reasonable.

Easy to use when using pre-programmed buttons.

I was confused by the dimensions shown on Amazon for the MyTouch 35150 timer. It turned out to be too tall for my application. If you need exact overall dimensions, here they are (I am holding the unit in my hand). Height 3.625". Width 2.375". Depth (excluding the plug prongs) 1.44". Hope this helps.

Works just as it should...perfect for kicking on the power pump for 10 minutes every day so that I dont have to plug it in. Fast shipper and no complaints.

I bought this over many other solutions to a digital plug-in timer. It came powered on which at first I thought was weird but this must have an internal battery that will keep the time active in case of a power outage! That is a great feature as it would take a bit to reset a custom time if the power were to go out. Setting the time was easy. As long as there is some charge to that internal battery. Mine was a bit dying when I first tried to set it up, so it was very hard to see the digital display. It was like trying to see a watch that had a dying battery. After plugging it for a bit I was able to easily set the time. It is a bit slow to setting the time. But you just need to hold down the button and it goes by pretty quickly. Make sure to set it to the correct AM/PM, or whatever you have it hooked up with will be a bit off :) You have several different options for when it will turn on/off your device that you have plugged into it and a custom setting. I only used the custom setting so far but the others are easy to operate. You just push the button to the setting you want and a blue indicator light will turn on next to the button. This says its all set, it will turn on and off at the designated times. If you chose to use the custom my time setting, it is simple to set up. Set up is similar to the same way that you adjusted the time. You push the custom start button, and use the arrows to select your time and push the custom start button again. The same for the custom off button. After you plug it in, plug the device in and select the timer button you want to use. A blue indicator light will turn on to tell you that it is set. There is also a countdown feature that will allow you to have it turn on for a specific amount of time, say for 2 hours and after that it will turn off. Overall this has made my life a bit easier. I don't need to remember to turn on/off my light to my bonsai tree in the morning and at night. This will make sure that everyday my tree gets the much needed light it needs to survive even if I am not home to to do so!

Al principio es un tanto desesperante esperar a que llegues al ajuste de hora / minuto pero una vez funcionando ningún problema y te olvidas de él. Buen producto aunque tengo la impresión que otra persona lo usa como pisa papeles o atorador de puerta :(

Buen producto, económico y fácil de usar. Me resulve el no tener que estar en casa para encender o apagar la luz del invernadero.

I like the battery back-up and the option to set it for sunset or put in your own time. Over all I'd recommend this to everyone. I already bought a second one to replace my other lamp timer.
