They are essentially the same thing. Fairmount tongs is just another name for a hand seamer. However, the forged hand seamers have wider size options. Can these handle 16oz copper without breaking?

I have used for 29 gauge steel carefully and no problems. Copper should be fine. The seamer is made of cast aluminum.
