It was worth the money.
Incredible!! I was very hesitant to pay this much for a toy. Luckily my 2 year old's birthday is in December so I pulled the Christmas/Birthday present and I'm very happy that I decided to do so. I was amazed at how many pieces and parts come with this set. There are 3 trains with 3 cars each. They can be linked to make bigger trains or kept separate. Each train car opens and closes for passengers or freight (that are included in the set) One train has lights and sounds. There is a train station complete with pulley elevator, a tunnel, and another train stop/vestibule with doors that open and close. There are two hills to create an elevated track and three bridges with supports to keep the tracks from coming apart under the weight of the trains. The train set is put together and comes apart quickly and easily. It's not too frustrating for a young child to play with. There are some small parts like the freight that I wouldn't let a child who mouths things to have but for the most part it's a charming little set with lots of additions I didn't know about. It even has two trucks and a boat to transport your cargo from train to train. Not to mention a magnet crane that lifts the freight from the boat compartments to the trains or trucks. It was worth the money.

Really fun set of trains!
My son loves these trains and this kit specifically was really well thought out. It's complex and keeps his imagination going. I love the fact that it came in a box with lid that opens up to a fun play mat. After the excitement wore off of what this set originally was intended to do, my son loves to use all the pieces with the rest of his Brio train pieces. The quality is 11/10 and the reason I only shop for Brio train toys now.

Durable and fun
This train set is worth the high price. It has been thrown around, chewed etc and looks brand new. It is a cute design, has road and rail and fun tunnel, train station etc. The trains, truck, bus etc are great! My son loved this ever since he got it and it is a permanent fixture in the playroom. We painted a piece of wooden board to assemble it on.My only criticism is that the people are too big and hang out of the train at funny angles which makes navigating the tunnel a bit tricky. I would give it 4.5 because of this.

Lovely toys
The Brio world is such a wonderful set of toys. My children enjoy these just about as much as I do ;) Every set we have purchased is of such great quality and all compatible with each other. Pieces fit together perfectly and material quality is substantial.

Excellent classic quality
Bought this along with a number of add-ons for my son for this covid-quarantine Christmas. He just turned 2 recently and while I set it up in the recommended layout, we ultimately simplified it for now (fewer elevated track sections, bridges, etc). In the simplified configuration it is both durable and still very fun. The key “add on” for us was a powered locomotive, which I would highly recommend. We plan to introduce more and more elements as he learns to play with it more carefully. Overall, a fantastic, quality product that is already well worth the purchase price and more

3 years and still nothing broken! so much better than Thomas set!
Definitely better made and designed than our expensive but cheaply made Thomas set.The rails connect better and offer more flexibility in layout. The trains run smoother on them, too. Some people are disappointed that they are made with plastic. I do like the wooden look, but love that they can put passengers in (make sure to have the arms down, otherwise they can't go through tunnels). The plastic seems good quality. Love the bin (never opened it up as the mat, though). The only complaint: The batteries die rather quickly for the cars that light up and make noise.

Not worth the price
We bought this a couple of months ago for our son’s birthday and I don’t think it was worth the price we paid. The track is nice. No splintering pieces, nice and smooth. The train cars on the other hand are terrible. The wheels are flimsy, they don’t stay on the track unless you barely move them and what child is going to do that. The cheap trains we got on Amazon work better. The boat piece is great and our son loves the truck and bus, but the bus comes apart (apparently to see the engine?) which is unnecessary and frustrating. My mom bought a train set for him to keep at her house and it was a quarter of the price and works fine. The wood is definitely not as nice but the function is fine.

Amazing set, except for the plastic rocks…
Overall: The train set is awesome. Very high quality and my son immediately started having a blast, that is until the tracks stopped staying together over top of the rocks. This set would be 5/5 star if I received the old rock style (which is what shows on the box and instructions) that did not have weird clamps that are supposed to keep the track in place. The concept is to put the track together and then push the track into the plastic clamps to prevent the track from sliding and coming apart. It is a great idea, but poorly executed. The tracks will stay “clamped” for about a minute and the track pieces will pop out of the clamp, making the track come apart on all of the raised portion of the track. The raised section was frustrating my son to the point where we had to stop playing with it until I took a Dremel tool to the clamps and shaved them off. Now the track is staying together just fine because the tracks just rest on a flat surface and do not need to be clamped down.I will be contacting Brio about this quality issue.I’m bummed I had to take a Dremel tool to a $400 train set the first few days of ownership, but now that it is trimmed up, my son is back at it and enjoying the set again.
