Solid build quality as it feels like a sturdy heater. No loose pieces . Heats up the 20 gallon tank fast. I am surprised at how well it works and how fast it heats up. It keeps the temp steady, no settings to fiddle around. This is best for tropical aquatic pets who thrive in 78 degrees F temp. Great buy!

Aqueon is a trusted brand in the aquarium industry. This heater is very convenient because it is preset and has safety features built in. I bought it to maintain temperature in my betta fish tanks but came to find out that it only works correctly if your home is warm enough. To elaborate, the ambient temperature of your house needs to be 73 in order to get your tank to 78. I did not know this before I bought several of these and therefore, my tanks are not at the desired temperature. I feel that this is a design flaw or oversight and really wish that the brand would correct this. How many people really heat their houses to 73 in the winter? Unfortunately, I am unable to heat my house more than 65 degrees. I still use this heater anyway but my betta fish is not living in optimal conditions due to the way the heater was designed. If your house is above 73, I highly recommend this heater. Aqueon makes great products.

No fiddling, just plug and it works. I had never used a heater before until the fish lady advised me to for my fancy tail goldfish of 6 years, plus zebra Damian and tuxedo guppies. They seemed to be ok before but go with the flow.

I took it out of the box and it didn’t even come with an suction cup or anything to secure it in the tank but I was fine with that I was just going to set the cord up so that it’s long enough to go almost to the bottom but short enough to stay in vertical. I plugged it in and the light came on for about 3 minutes and turned off so I assumed it was at a good temperature but I came back an hour later and did another finger dip into the water and it was cold and the heater won’t turn on anymore.

High quality! It doesn’t go bad. I’ve owned this for 5 years and it’s still working great. I got another one for a larger tank.Note: 100 watts is not enough for a 30-gallon tank in the winter. I use a 200-watt heater for my 30-gallon, and my fish are happy.

I use this heater to keep my dogs kennel water from freezing. It never has quit working.
