Brahms: The Boy 2 [Blu-ray] [2020]

Don’t expect the same story.
More of a psychological horror than anything else. Although not in the same league as the first movie it really does have its good points. Beautifully made as expected and although it doesn’t keep you on the edge of your seat it’s still very entertaining. The doll is back to his usual creepy self and although he has no fully grown psychotic to do most of his dirty work, he still manages to cause trouble. It’s never ridiculous and although the back story can be somewhat confusing it never detracts from the overall feel of the movie. Don’t analyse too much, just enjoy a good effort for what it’s worth. The ending could well be setting up for The Boy 3, and I hope so.

Crap.
Basically remake of 1st film. A boy finds a doll after a traumatic experience , it dtarts to take him over basically same plot as 1st film. Lackluster. Dull .horror free. Dont waste money.

An awful follow up to a fairly decent film
When I initially saw the trailer for THE BOY, I made a snap judgment that this was going to be the typical haunted doll film loaded with jump scares. Devoid of any real substance at all. Surprisingly though THE BOY was really good. An interesting and surprising horror, not great but solid. When I saw the trailer for the sequel I was curious how they were going to evolve this storyline. Turns out everything I expected in the first one, I got here. It is uninspired. There is the usual jump scares. A possessed doll. And devoid of anything resembling a decent character. The retconning of a supernatural element into this film was the final straw in turning this into another bland uninteresting horror film.AVOID!

Bad...
Number one actually had a nice plot, kind of good acting, no cheesy jumpscares or terrible, choppy scenes but this number 2... my god. It completely, and I mean COMPLETELY tears down all of the plot in number one, so go into this thinking its 2 different franchises only with similar names. Not only does it undo a decent movie and the plot, the new plot makes no sense and its obviously just a cash grab with the name of the previous movie stamped on it. Plot holes, complete scenes that dont make sense/cant happen, eg. the father leaving for work and then 20 mins later he’s back at the house when the mum and kid come in like? Did he decide to have a 10 min workday? No time to make sure this movie actually makes sense, and along with the boooooring cardboard acting and sub-par plot, makes for a pretty uncomfortable viewing experience. Huge plot holes are never covered either so try to disengage your brain while watching and dont ask too many questions!
