Q: Will the traffic updates on this GPS work without a smartphone?

so far they have, I do have my iphone in the car, but I don't use Google to get traffic reports in Atlanta

Q: Does it have the traffic power cord ?

I have the refurbished 65 model bought on Amazon and it does not come with the traffic power cord. You will have to order it from Garmin as I did and will cost you $63. I do not know about the 55 but would suspect if it is a refurbished model it will probably not have the traffic cord. I strongly suggest that you go to the Garmin site or the Garmin store as they have both refurbished and new packages and they show you a picture of exactly what you get. I unusually buy the new packages as they sometimes do come with the traffic power cord. Also research the traffic feature to see it it is transmitted in your area or the areas you want to receive the alerts. This is the first one that I bought on Amazon and will probably be the last. I have 3 more GPS that I purchased new from Garmin plus one for my boat that is top self Garmin that I purchased from a boat supply store and the all work great and have support for the products. It is really nice to talk to real people that know the products. Also Garmin has a factory store that has been running sale all week. DMD

Q: Is there a find my garmin feature if lost or stolen?

No... not that I know of. If you keep it in your car, keep your car locked and gps out of sight when car is parked. Don't give people a reason to take it.
