Minecraft is a superb experience. At this point the game itself is a known quantity so I'm not going to talk in detail about the things everyone likes (procedural world generation, charming graphics, complex sandbox gameplay, customizable experiences, etc). Online play with friends on the Bedrock edition for PS4 is clunky. Joining custom servers, in specific, is a real pain - it is not supported by the default game client. There are free apps - such as BedrockTogether - which allow you to get around this, but they can be a little tricky / unstable to work with. If you've got a good PC, the Java edition is better suited to your needs, but the console bedrock edition is still a ton of fun.
