Great for hardwoods and area rugs
I looked at two other backpack vacuums before deciding on the Powr Flite, which came in the middle price point. I have a shedding dog, a cat, two kids, wool rugs (kilims) and hardwood floors. I wanted a vacuum that would clean it all without taking hours (like my kirby did) or driving me nuts (like the kirby did: pulling up rugs and/or not getting up the dog fur, depending upon the attachment). The Powr Flite is terrific. I am 5'3" with a small frame, and it fit me just fine right out of the box without adjustment. I use the carpet tool with the fine brush for the rugs (the other carpet tool was too strong and pulled the rug up or I couldn't push/pull it) and the hardwood floor tool for the rest of the house. Works great and I was done quickly. I loooove just walking around the house, not pushing or pulling the kirby around, it is so freeing. The long cord is a great advantage, too, as I can plug it in and go over the entire house (upstairs and down) without unplugging it.Two small complaintsThe sternum strap will not go higher and I cannot snap it across my bosom. It is cumbersome to store when not in use. If I keep the wand connected, the whole thing wants to tip over.

FINALLY found the vaccuum of my dreams!!!
I have tried just about every vacuum out there, my last/best was the Dyson but even that lost it's ability to maintain it's suction after 2 years. Instead of buying my third Dyson after all repair options were off the table, I decided to do some deep diving into commercial vacuums. You definitely need to be in good shape to wear and use this unit. I find myself physically exhausted after a 3 our cleaning spree but it's well worth it. I wish they offered more head options for various types of cleaning or at least provide the dimensions for off market/off label accessories.

Doesn't work for me, read my pro's and con's.
Just received and tried out this commercial vacuum for me regular round of cleanings. First off it isn't too comfortable, the tube sticking out of the top of the vacuum gets annoying and the electrical cord coming out of the vacuum gets tangled with the tube. This then requires you take off the vacuum and set it down to untangle the mess. I will list pro's and con's separately.Cons:-Horrible for vacuuming carpets. They should list this on their website as this is not a vacuum I recommend for any type of carpet vacuuming. It won't even vacuum glitter or lint after a holiday party.-Gets hot, I got the standard model which doesn't have the "cooling" mechanism but regardless the vacuum and cords do get hot.-I am 6'0 and to get the proper vacuum angle to pick up debris you need to get the angle of the brush correct. This requires you to arch your back and I don't know how long you can take of that with about 11 pounds on your back.-Tough to use in narrow spaces as you will do some bumping into walls with the canister on your back.-The attachments sit too far back on the waist belt, difficult to grab them off of the belt. Once you have them on your belt they easily fall off if you bend down to pick something up or reach up for something.-Attachments don't attach to the pole very easily, takes a bit of turning and twisting to get an attachment onto the pole. They could have made this easier as stand upright vacuums have, click and release.Pros:-Very quiet-Very quick to vacuum hardwood floors as long as you don't tangle up your cord and don't bump the vacuum into any walls. Conclusion:I am returning this vacuum after about an hour of use. I have a mix of carpet and hardwood so for me to have a vacuum which cannot do carpets just isn't worth it. Also the difficulty to deal with attaching the attachments is just aggravating to say the least. I will stick to using my hoover uprights with attachments which have been serving my business for the past 7 years.Thank you.

Love this vacuum
So far, so good. I have had this a few weeks and it is working great. It has all the right attachments and does a great job. I have hardwoods, carpet, and tile and it works on all of them. You have to switch attachments but it is very easy to do. I have also used it to clean the blinds and baseboards in my whole house. I like the reach of the 50 ft cord.

Highly recommend - for serious cleaning
I bought this for my home at the recommendation of our office custodian. I would consider this professional grade which has pros/cons for the less intense homeowner. For my 5'2" wife this is a little heavy; I could have gotten the lighter 4qt size, I realize, but the reviews on that were a little less positive. Like other reviewers, I wish there was a velcro strap or something else to secure the cord when the unit is being stored. The hook is OK but if you set the vacuum down, the cord comes off. Also, and this may have to do with body shape, but I can't see the belt to secure the other attachments so I just end of picking the couple I will use and stuffing them in the belt or my pockets. I haven't researched this yet, but I would like to get a set of plastic pipes; the stainless steel ones, while very robust, are heavy if you are trying to vacuum the ceiling. As compared to a kettle or push vacuum, this isn't the type of equipment you pull out to clean up a small spill. It takes a few extra minutes to put on.Having said all that, the vacuum strength appears very good. Now that we have it, I have done a better job vacuuming than I have in years. It is much easier to move from room-to-room and I can do each floor of my house with just one plug-in. I have gotten cobwebs that I have looking at literally for years because I didn't have a better way of getting at them. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Perfect
Super comfortable on the back. Am using this to clean my retail shop and the goal was to not have to bend over to clean. Good suction and comes with a lot of different heads for specific cleaning needs.
