I have seen the light! No longer am I a caveman, messily smashing a cold, lifeless stick of butter on my toast and potatoes! Here's what I like:Pros:1.) Sturdy, cool ceramic design ensures there is a hard, loving shell wrapped around my precious butter wand.2.) Small cup with room for cool water makes an air tight seal around the butter, making a moat of sorts to defend the butter castle!3.) Not made in China, so there's no real worry about lead based paint.4.) WIDE base on top of the bell makes a nice, sturdy stand when extracting the delicious butter.5.) Bell is large enough to hold one full stick of butter realistically. You could smash a bit more in there but you run the risk of wet butter and a bit of a mess!6.) Butter last's much longer than expected! I've left my butter in that crock for about two weeks before I finished it (changing the water out every 2 to 3 days) and it was perfectly safe and tasty! Tastes just like day one!Cons:1.) I just wish it was a LITTLE bit bigger. I have had zero problems with this butter crock!This is a top notch butter crock and if you're tired of using "tub butter" or if you've been eating...margarine...make the investment in not only your health, but saving money over time on butter! I figure that I can either buy a small tub of butter which is around $4.00 around my area, or I can buy an equal amount of stick butter for around $2.00 and over time, the money I save on butter will surpass the amount I've spent on this bell crock. If you've read this far, just buy the crock already, you won't regret this one!

There is a water line in the butter container which you do have to fill. I got lazy one time and emptied the water and refilled the butter and didn't refill the water. . . . Mold.(within a week) Anytime i've had water in there, perfect. This may be obvious, but rather than test it yourself, let my experience save you a stick of butter.You could probably fit 2 full sticks inside of this, but I usually put one. I was worried about water getting all up in my butter but it really isn't an issue. If you're worried that much you can take it out, and tap it on a paper towel so it doesn't drip.It's pretty sturdy ( I wouldn't throw it across the room or drop it...) But normal washing, dinging, and clinking around seems fine (no chips)I wash mine in the dishwasher and haven't had any issues. Great color, good gift, or splurge for yourself.

I liked the look and the idea, but I am now going back to a regular butter dish. I have been faithful to change the water every day, but every day my butter falls out of the bowl! GROSS to have the butter in water!

It can hold a little over one stick of butter and keeps it protected from oxidation. The butter remains soft and spreads easily. No more torn up soft bread. This is my second one. After many years of use, the first one got dropped (by me) on the counter and the edge of the pot got a big chip in it. It is pretty durable, though. Just don't be a butterfingers.

It is so very pretty! I guess I expected a smaller size, so it is a pleasant surprise that it is as big as it is. Can't wait for it to get used. Comes very well cushioned to preventbreakage during shipping.
